If monks had a harder time than other classes soloing mobs in the open world, then there might be a good reason to implement this, but that's not the case. There are plenty of opportunities to use your positional bonuses even while soloing and all bosses have either a flank or a rear to attack.

Anything brand new to you would be confusing, that's just an excuse. It won't be difficult to understand and there is no good reason why Monks should be so one-dimensional.
