are WHMs hard to come by?

I don't know if it's my server but I main Sch but all everybody ask if I can come on whm. I thought sch was the rarer healer of the 2. Even my FC alway asking for my Whm for all content. It crazy because I have my Sch novus and whm zenith. Any insight why is this happening?

Rather than white mages being hard to come by, my thoughts are as followed:
I believe the class/job is too bland for a lot players. Compared to a scholar, a white mage has a very small bread&butter skill kit. Resulting that those, who prefer a more active and dexterous class, prefer Scholar over White Mage.

It might not be the same thing but I often ask players I know to go WHM when we are farming because I know they arent very good SCHs.

The way I see it...

At first there were lots of WHM and very few SCH. Most ppl put full INT on Arcanist class due to SMN and most Arcanists now Summoners don't like healing.

At first people considered SCH a "bad healer job" because it didn't have an equivalente to Cure2 or Medica/Cure3 (burst heals).
As a tank, I always loved SCH but some (dumb) ppl thought it was "too weak heals". They do not understand the concept of damage mitigation.


So we had lots of WHM (many bad ones who pretty much only spam Cure2 and run out of MP) and very few SCH early on.
That kinda changed as time passed.
I remember when 2nd coil was new some months ago, EVERYONE was looking for a SCH for a static.
This maybe led some ppl to level up and/or learn to play SCH.

Now it seems we have more SCH than WHM. I also noticed that WHM are very rare nowadays on my server.
Most groups were looking for SCH months ago, now most groups are looking for WHM for Coil and Ramuh.

It's really bothers me because ppl rather have my zenith whm than my novus sch. Wouldn't my Sch be more enticing. And I see A lot of SCH not healing, as if the whmand fairy should be enough. It was in a ramuh (farm?) party last night and as soon as the duty started the sch popped cleric stance and NEVER left it. im not suppose to solo heal and i feel like the community is encouraging no healing sch. I used to not mind going whm but I've geared my Sch and now ppl only want my Whm cause i rarely oomp (someone told me this). Maybe it's just me. Idk /rant

I see a lot of WHMs that are not really good with the class. compared to sch you don't have 25% instant heal 3 times a minute, no back up heal like the fairy incase you are occupied by something else and you also have to watch your mp and enmity levels. quite a few might have switched to sch cause of this or started playing "ez mode" DD.
The thing is either you are made to be a healer or not. and while you have WHMs switching to SCHs, you don't really see SCHs or other classes switching to WHM. and in the end you see less and less WHMs...

I have both my healers maxed and decently geared as secondary classes. At first I found myself using Scholar almost exclusively, but after having played White Mage more and more while looking for the Ramuh staff (which I finally found oh my god bless), I've come to see that I actually enjoy White Mage more. That isn't to say I don't find Scholar interesting - the way it heals is definitely different from White Mage, and I never had a problem adapting to either style. My server has a pretty decent mix, though, so if there's a party with a WHM in it I can go SCH, and if there's a party with a SCH I can go WHM.

I've noticed a shortage of whm on my server also. After my first static broke up (still QQ'ing about that), I've subbed regularly and had standing offers from several other talented groups. Some of the people I play with do say the shortage isn't whm in general, but good whm who know their job, especially when it comes to MP efficiency. (their words, not mine.) I can't remember the last time i asked for a Ballad as opposed to a Foes. Which is prolly why they refuse to let me do anything but whm

As to white mages switching to scholars, I recently leveled a scholar. I'm finding it interesting and fun, but I will always prefer whm i think. I feel so much more efficient when I can throw out a stoneskin, cure, regen, then dps, than when i'm throwing out adlos and succors trying to mitigate incoming damage while drying to keep my dot's up. I'm sure it's just because I'm still feeling out my full potential as a scholar, and i've known some amazing scholars, but i do love the whming.

On Malboro, I see a lot more WHM than SCH. As a WHM I would like to say, please bring more SCH! Running full parties with 2 WHM is of course doable, but as a matter of preference I think the WHM/SCH combo is the most reliable way to complete end game content.

WHM is just boring when compared to SCH.
SCH gets good healing, decent DD, and decent support skills from Selene.
WHM gets... good healing. ZzZzZZZzzzzZzZz
