An increased interface bandwidth only works if the hardware is faster than the current interface. With normal HDDs this is doubtful.
There is nothing doubtful about it. A normal mechanical HDD is nowhere near the limit of max SATA II transfer speeds.
A mechanical HDD with a SATA III interface is the same speed as one with SATA II if anything else is the same.
The fact that the interface offers higher bandwidth does not change the speed of the HDD.

I used to have a setup of Raid 0 Raptors for my gaming drive, and with that I had stuttering when entering an area with a lot of people, though not to the extent that others have reported.
Dropped that setup in exchange for an SSD and I no longer suffer stuttering.
It is not that people all pop instantly when entering an area, but there is no FPS hit (the stuttering) as there used to be.

Question! Why are SSD so much more expensive for a smaller capacity? 1TB SATA is $500 less than a 256GB SSD. I can't speak for others, but I would not survive with a 256GB HD, even with my 2TB external HD handy, this is 2011 not 2003 D:

Because Apple buys all the flash chips for their devices and the production is pretty slow compared to magnetic disks. It will get cheaper in the near future.

I love how you remembered I'm running on iMac lmao

Thanks! I will keep this in mind for when I make my next upgrade (also will keep my eyes on the GPUs they offer)

Thank you for your answers. I have to consider buying a SSD to this game.

Heya, I got a radeon HD5850 I had alot of problems your having and I fixed a few of them. Someone mentioned depth of field messing the trees up like that, that is exactly right, took me forever to figure it out, play with depth of field off and the tree issue will be fixed.

The other issue I was having was with Morphological filtering (in the CCC) this was causing me to get glitches in the menus and cursor, when I turned that off my problems went away.

As far as the shadowing goes, it kinda just sucks...
