I've spent the last 2 days trying to optimise my ping times to SE. This is the best I've been able to get...
Local Aussie connection however is:
I wish SE had a server here in Brisbane. I'm on the NBN so I'd be set. Once I try to connect to overseas though it feels like I may as well be on dialup. That top ping to Montreal is absolutely fantastic by my standards. Often it's over a thousand. It still makes me cry that I can't get it under 250 though![]()
and mine is 5mb for 65$Base price for 15Mb is almost $60/month with
what a rip off

Um... what ARE you smoking? Connection speed? You have upstream and downstream bandwidth, there is no "connection speed".
8 bits = 1 byte. b=bit, B=byte.
That said, you'd be correct if the speed test reported megaBYTE per second speeds, but it doesn't. The speed is clearly posted at Mb/s (small b). In that case, 1000Mb/s = Gigabit. 125MB/s would be Gigabit, but Ookla reports megabit speeds.
Hey! I just moved to Brisbane a few months ago and got an NBN connection too with iiNet, I get the same speeds and have only noticed a little improvement with WTFast or Pingzapper.I've spent the last 2 days trying to optimise my ping times to SE. This is the best I've been able to get...

I heard Blizzard is opening up servers in Australia that also connect to North America (so you can still play with all your friends). I hope one day Square Enix have the resources to do the same thing, I really hope! I'm sick of using latency as an excuse for why some attacks don't show up on my screen until they are already executed on the server.
But as far as patches go, I tend to download them extremely fast. So we got that going for us, which is nice.![]()
"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."
Welcome to BrisVegas o.o/~
The NBN is yummy when not trying to connect to overseas so be sure to take advantage of it locally if you can, for example I think iiNet has some local game servers for a few different things (don't remember what, I only play a couple of online games and they don't cover them) and it's also good if you can access local FTP's and the like.
Yeah, I tried a couple of VPN's but found they weren't worth their subscriptions (as least for me) so always stopped them within a week or two.
Patch downloads certainly are fast but I'm a little worried that we may not actually be able to download the patch until a few minutes before servers go back up and 99% of people won't be able to download it fast enough.

Oh yeah so when its time to play again in a few hours, Watch them bring it back down for emergency maintenance for 4 hours (I am guessing)
