Bids have been submitted for new fiber in the Raleigh-Durham area (from a competitor, not TWC), and AT&T is slowly expanding their U-Verse offerings throughout the region (DSL speeds above 6Mb, as well as TV services). We really need some competition here to put a fire under TWC-SC's butt.

Agreed. What's sad is my inet was literally 1/5th of that yesterday, until I called and scheduled a tech to come swap out my modem/router for a newer one that could support the new speeds. I didn't even pay for this upgrade, this is just standard for what I pay now. Amazing how when real competition starts coming around, you suddenly get 5x more for your money. Time Warner advertises speeds up to 300mb, and Fiber was said to be capable of 1G last I heard.

I just did a ping test for ffxiv us server got "88ms" wondering what's very one getting

Here's how to test ping:

1. Open up a the run interface (Windows Button + R).

2. Type in ‘CMD’ – this will bring you to the command prompt.

3. Type in ‘PING <IP Address>’ – you can find IP addresses of each FFXIV ARR server below.

4. At the bottom you will be given the minimum, maximum and finally your average ping.

North America Datacentre | square-enix.montreal.com | IP address: 184.107.107.176

Europe Datacentre | eu.square-enix.com | IP address: 209.130.141.243

Japan Datacentre | jp.square-enix.com | IP address : 202.67.53.202

My average results from Newcastle NSW with ISP Internode are: Japan:158, Europe:296, North America:264.

Wrong server IP addresses. Not sure where you got them from.. but those are website hosting servers (not even on Ormuco's segments either).. they are not used for the game.

To get a better metric, need an actual game server. Can get them with netstat/resmon once you are fully logged into the game. Otherwise, you can use the lobby servers:

Odd addresses are in Japan, even ones are in Canada.

Most time for game patches is spent actually uploading and replacing files in the database, not doing programming work. This is why patches aren't available to download from the normal patcher until near the end of maintenance but pre-patching is possible.

Using my connection from Denmark, speedtest says the following, connecting to Seattle:

Minimum = 104ms, Maximum = 109ms, Average = 105ms

European Datacenter:

Minimum = 37ms, Maximum = 38ms, Average = 37ms

Japanese Datacenter:
Ping statistics for 202.67.53.202:
Minimum = 285ms, Maximum = 287ms, Average = 286ms

Did they move the European Datacenter already? Usually I get latency in the 120's..

EDIT: Nevermind, don't know what I'm pinging but it's not the game lobbies..
