Let's put it this way, I play a similarly geared MNK and BLM, so we can hold player skill constant. My MNK BLOWS my BLM out of the water on every single target fight, assuming there is no throttling. In T7 they are about the same because of the throttling, in T8 my MNK just absolutely decimates my BLM. In T9, BLM will win in P1 and Golems, and MNK will win post golems.

mDPS is harder to use up close for extended periods of time because holding all other factors constant they can blow ranged dps out of the water.

BLM wins by far on P3 on T9 if you aren't the one LBing.

I dislike positional requirements too just in general when playing melee DPS, I have a MNK and a BRD and the MNK is extremely more complex to maximize DPS which is partially due to those annoying positional requirements. In fact I have given up caring about position on MNK but mostly because I hate playing it and only level capped it because I had a leftover PUG from 1.0 that figured might as well finish leveling.

I will care more about positioning if I enjoy playing Rogue/Ninja but I won't give a damn about position for the most part up until start doing EX primals and Raids when that positioning for squeezing out additional DPS is much more important. I would however be very happy if some day they removed positional skill requirements, I won't deny that.

There is no reason to complain about positional requirements. They are not tough, complicated or annoying. Either get good, or stop being bad and main something that is not melee. Not meaning this to attack you OP...

You cannot say there is no reason to complain to other people...if someone does not enjoy an aspect of the game and their reason is linked to actual mechanics of it then that is valid enough reason in itself to complain regardless of what reason they have for not enjoying it.

Though obviously the reason would need to be game related of course like you really shouldn't put a reason as I dislike positional requirements because of the war in the middle east or the colour/size of the moon for example since that would be silly and not a valid reason but when in context of gameplay relevant to the thing you do not enjoy then it is valid reason to complain even if not everyone agrees since it is a gameplay mechanic that's detrimental to your enjoyment of the game.

TS had too much salt for dinner?

I don't even move much to hit all the positional requirements, no need to reinvent the wheel, just shuffle between the end of the line of the target's reticle on either side, if you can't even do that then you pretty much shldn't even play anything. And I pretty much like hitting all the positionals for monk for additional damage, it's like missing positionals are good on a DDR machine and hitting one is like a perfect and u win any bard doing perfects on their rotations hands down anyday with goods.

People seems to expect the developer or the community to carebear too much for their bad skills. Getting kicked out of dungeon? Oh please both monks and dragoons have their own aoe rotations, i've nvr been kicked from a speed run. You're probably either too bad or too rude to get one.

It's not always that simple, you might actually enjoy everything else about the job except one certain thing. Same thing applies to every aspect of the game whether fates, hunts, crafting, relic weapons or dungeons/raids etc. I actually find such things as people saying if don't enjoy x, y or z in a game then quit playing that character or quit playing the game to be very annoying. If the shoe was on the other foot and it was removed of which you then complain that it was something you enjoyed about the class, I am pretty sure you would not like people saying to you "well too bad...quit playing that one and go play another class".

It is not black and white whether talking about classes or jobs, gameplay features or just the game in general since it is always made up of many parts, some parts/aspects of such things you might enjoy while other not so much. People would rather ask a clock they like in general to be fixed by replacing one cog rather than be told to throw the clock out despite being only that one cog they want to replace within it.

The positional skill requirement to master it is actually only a very tiny fraction of the job since it makes hardly any difference until you hit EX and few highest tier raids. But no matter how tiny an aspect it is...if something about it makes the game less enjoyable for you then there is nothing wrong with expressing that in the hopes of which even that tiny thing will be changed to make you enjoy the class even more than before. It does not mean they have to change it just because someone would prefer it done another way but it is a valid reason to voice criticism even if does not get changed in the long run.

I understand what you are saying, and the easy answer/solution is to try a non melee job.

This way you don't have to worry about positional requirements quite as much.

I'm sure its safe to say that for all of us, there are things we don't like about the game, but I don't see positional requirements changing much in the near future. IF anything they are probably going to grow on the system they have already built - with new abilities / skills when the level cap is raised that require you to be in a specific position to be able to use or combo. I wouldn't expect less.

To me, lazy people just being lazy... They call themselves the true X- class lovers where X can be any class, yet they refuse to learn to play the class to its fullest potention. Much like, saying, I am a true IT lover, yet I don't know how computer works, who are you trying to lie to???
