bad thread is bad
It's the other way around, there are very few encounters, where a BLM can outdps a monk, but those are ONLY the ones that involve several adds but we're talking strictly about Single Target DPS and that is where monks blow BLM out of the water even after the buffs. If he doesn't then he is just bad.
Even in fights like T9 the monk should at least be on par with the BLM if not higher and this is an annoying encounter for monks.
Also Ninja has less positional requirements than monk so I don't see the problem.

Well considering if you just stand on the flank ninjas movement becomes once every minute for TA. Not too strenouis I would think.
You can even scratch TA from your rotation because it can only be used as opener while you're in "Hide", so once per fight.
So basicly Ninja will only have a flank requirement for his rotation.
No TA will still be every min Suiton gives you the ability to use TA/SA out of hide.
Ninja has less positional requirements than both MNK and DRG so to me it looks like they actually ease up on postionals for melees. Ninja's main rotation only involves 1 GCD skill with a positional check and even that one can be avoided if you let a warrior do it for you. Sure you can count SATA too but even then its only once every minute.
Ninja sounds like a good option for people that would like to play melee but hate positional checks imo.
Ah my bad then, well it's still easy enough to get an extra positional on every other minute.
But yeah if you have a warrior with you that would make it one positional.
So i don't see whats the deal with people complaining about positionals.

All of you talk about MNK like its the only melee dps out there. I've never been outdps'ed in endgame content by a MNK, except for T8.
And doing the positional requirements is not that hard while mechanicing. It's like riding a bike. Eventually u stop thinking about it, and just do it.
I don't always pug, but when i do, it's with Pretty Ugly Guys
Just saying, the positional requirement for monk aren't even hard.
People really over exagerate monks difficulty. At least for monk if you are out of place your dots or w/e are still applied. For drg and nin you won't get the effect. Even then none of the melee dps classes are hard to play.
The positional requirements might be a problem when you're new to a melee job... but it really isn't a problem after a while.
My main is a DRG, and I actually find DRG to be the easiest job in the game to play... Easy rotation when you have learnt it, and I have very little to pay attention to other than my positioning, both for my attacks and for the fight mechanics.
I have never really gotten into MNK, and while it seems a lot harder, I don't think it is too hard if I just gave it some time...
I usually out-dps all those "face-roll" jobs you mentioned...
Have to wait and see for Ninja, but the positioning seems very easy...
