That is not how the sub works. You pay for 30 days not a month. So on months with 31 days if you paid for your sub on the first your game time will run out on the 30th not the 31.

You'll get compensation when 2.4 is live tomorrow...Referencing ToS is pathetic. We're all painfully aware of what ToS says about a lot of things so let's be fair and give each other the benefit of the doubt and assume we're not so naive as to believe that the ToS is absolute in this case. I feel like anyone arguing ToS for this subject should be promptly placed in the centipad episode of south park for arrogance and negligence. Meanwhile the rest of us adults will realize that our parents aren't paying for this game and that it is a legitimate concern. So please, aside from all of your bantering about "ToS" this, and "you're cheap" that can we please just come to a conclusion that we all agree that we want our day of free game time and that it makes sense to want it. And you may tell yourself that there are too many good reasons for them not to, but all you need is one good reason to, and the fact is that you don't pay to not play this game. Like most I don't have a problem with having the day off, but I did pay for it and I want compensation. If this were a larger sum of money this argument could easily be upheld in a court, so your "ToS" arguments are worthless.
It would be one thing if they did shut the severs down a week or more but 1 lousy day? Relax and go play another game you barely get time to play due to FF14 eating your time up. Stop being so combative and demanding....
To compensate for the lost 25hrs of subscription time, for the first 25hrs of 2.4 the servers will run at double-time.
You guys aren't actually paying for 30 days of playtime... if so your account would be active far beyond 30 days before you had to pay again (unless you are in game 24/7 and burning down those 43,200 minutes).
What you are effectively doing is paying them to keep your account active for 30 days, which in turn grants you access to available content that would otherwise be unavailable to you due to an account being inactive and not due to server downtimes--be that planned maintenance or uncontrolled/unforeseen circumstances like a major earthquake or something else that cause networks/servers to go offline.
It was the same way in XI--when your account went inactive, you lost your full access to the forums, LS site, and the game. There's a weird "glitch" of sorts that still allows you access to the forums for this game even when your account goes inactive (which they may address one day so it functions like XI, who knows), but I think you loose full access to your lodestone character data when you go inactive... forget exactly.
The point is... you aren't paying for 43,000+ minutes of playtime with your 30 day pass---you are paying to keep your account active for 30 days, which in turn grants you access to currently available content that requires that account to be active for access. During maintenance, the gaming portion of that content is not accessible--but other content is because your account is still active.
Now, if your account was deactivated prematurely, or you were otherwise denied access to the account because of something they did (like taking the network/servers completely down and preventing you from logging in to your account at all)--you might have a leg to stand on. But that does not appear to be the case.

Think of it like this , one play today and get nothing new and have maintenance tomorrow or , two get maintenance today and get 2.4 tomorrow with no maintenance.
That was quite entertaining, its always amusing to see someone who refuses to believe in the Terms of Service they accepted and willingly pay for as if they are so far above the terms that they themselves supersede the terms, rules, regulations or whatever you want to call it. That's called being part of the ignorant and arrogant masses that doesn't know their credit card has a spending limit and they run into a life full of debt. It's a shame I found this thread so late, I'd have loved to throw my own insults around as well. But I'm pretty sure he's at his posting limit already, so I'll just have to say this...
@KrissKringle
Everyone you were arguing with is right, its not about being personally above the ToS or wanting SquareEnix Co. to change the Terms of Service or bend the Terms, YOU clicked yes to the agreement and therefore you have to deal/live with the consequences. If you're still unsatisfied, you're being compensated by the Developers adding additional content that was not a part of the game just yesterday. Enjoy it and please, go back to law school or debate classes because you forgot and failed all the basics.
