Considering that every other MMO out there has moved away from complete player shutdown as a tactic in PvP it's pretty obvious that the current interrupt system is archaic and broken. If BLMs do too much damage then adjust their damage, don't force ALL casters to suffer at the hands of a broken mechanic just to balance a perceived burst issue with BLM.

In an ideal world you would stop their burst by interrupting a cast that was fundamental to the burst combo. This is how most other MMOs handle it and it requires more skilled gameplay on both sides and results in less overall frustration for everyone. Interrupts should be limited to stuns and silences, that's why all the physical DPS have them... what's the point of you having a silence skill if every single auto-attack results in the same effect? If an enemy has a particularly dangerous skill you save your interrupts for that skill and use some actual strategy to beat them; having it done automatically with a passive interrupt on every attack is skill-less and boring for everyone.
