    Maybe there could be room for a interrupt resist to build up under certain conditions just like stun/sleep resists. Lets say, taking a huge amount of damage quickly such as a mage being focused by multiple melees could build some spell interruption resistantce to allow 1 or 2 casts.

    blm burst is too powerful to not be interrupted. if blm's could just stand there freecasting there wouldnt be a point in playing for other dps even with the flare nerf. If somone is a brd/nin/mnk and they are assigned to stop the blm from harrassing their team they should be able to do so. as a blm you have to adapt to their tactic. name another dps class that can have a 1 over their head, 4+ dps coming at them, and live. name another dps that for any reason would ever have a 1 over their head.

    Considering that every other MMO out there has moved away from complete player shutdown as a tactic in PvP it's pretty obvious that the current interrupt system is archaic and broken. If BLMs do too much damage then adjust their damage, don't force ALL casters to suffer at the hands of a broken mechanic just to balance a perceived burst issue with BLM.

    In an ideal world you would stop their burst by interrupting a cast that was fundamental to the burst combo. This is how most other MMOs handle it and it requires more skilled gameplay on both sides and results in less overall frustration for everyone. Interrupts should be limited to stuns and silences, that's why all the physical DPS have them... what's the point of you having a silence skill if every single auto-attack results in the same effect? If an enemy has a particularly dangerous skill you save your interrupts for that skill and use some actual strategy to beat them; having it done automatically with a passive interrupt on every attack is skill-less and boring for everyone.

    The only powerful BLM burst comes from getting a firestarter/thundercloud proc, and tacking it on right after a fire. Two solid hits in half a second, still not enough to take off half of someone's HP. And then it's followed by 2 full GCD before the next spell lands. Every other dps can do strong bursts as well, and most while immobilizing the target in the process for 5+ seconds.

    The only reason for that 1 over a BLM is AoE sleep. AoE nukes just make AoE cures more efficient. Brd/mnk/nin don't have abilities that can interrupt a spell besides their normal attacks all of a sudden? I'm not sure who's asking to be able to survive the onslaught of 4 people, just to be able to finish a spell without being interrupted by someone on the other team sneezing. Name one other dps class that can be completely shut down by a brd in autoattack mode.

    What? When I play Bard, I notice my burst is a lot better than black mages (with cooldowns up) and weaving in the extra shots. Hell, even Dragoon with pvp abilities could out burst a BLM straight up. The only thing BLM has going for it is it doesn't rely on cooldowns as much as other classes to blow someone up...but instead they rely on procs.

    Edit: The swiftcast nerf really messed with black mages control of burst outside of procs. Procs do make their burst nice, but they require setup and are never guaranteed.
