It'll happen' When someone see's that you have no FC they will send invites. I think most of them are just looking to increase their numbers. Some of them may send you messages. I get them still from time to time as I have no FC. I never accept them. The ones who actually take the time to talk to you though seem a little more interested than just increasing their numbers.
ok. thanks.
This happened to me when I made an alt on another server. If you get repeated requests from the same person, I'd suggest blacklisting them.
FCs get credit points from each of their member's kind of activity - doing fates, dungeons etc. It costs nothing for it's members but is a valuable resource for FC - it levelups and FC owners can use these points to pay for company actions. So, FCs are interested even in "dummy" players who does nothing for FC and play as they play. You can use such company to stop invite stream, but there is very few probability to get from it something else.
PS I wrote about possible motivation only, it doesn't mean that all free companies positions most of their members as a source of credit points and that's all.
Well if you are running around without an FC you will probably get a lot of inviteLike Alx789 said, you can just join in one, it costs nothing and you may change your FC or withdraw from one if you don't like. At higher level you probably won't get invite anymore since people know that you are not likely to accept.
By the way, i found joining a FC may have some benefits, like getting an answer from other, getting help when you need, free EXP buff through company action.
most/all random fc invites on my prime time had a 1% or less active guildie ratio. why should i join an inactive fc?Well if you are running around without an FC you will probably get a lot of inviteLike Alx789 said, you can just join in one, it costs nothing and you may change your FC or withdraw from one if you don't like. Random invites are kind of annoying, if I am out grinding around and happen too see someone at a fate that we are both participating in, after the fate is over I send a tell asking if they would like to join an FC, explain a bit about FC benefits and our group and let them know it's ok if they don't want join then send an invite and head out. But I do remember being a Greenleaf and getting bombarded by FC invites, it gets old fast. Dont be afraid to join one as you can leave at anytime if you find another group fits your playstyle or needs.
Have fun, and welcome to Eorzea!
If you join some random FC that invited you without even knowing who they are:
Advantages:
1) You'll get the benefit of Company Actions. Most FCs use these and they give all members some benefit, whether that's XP boosts or travel discounts, or any of a number of other perks.
2) You may find friends you can run content together with, or crafters who will help you with gear, or people you can help with their content or gear.
Disadvantages:
None, really. The nearest thing to a disadvantage is that if you make friends there and then later get in a fight with them, you can end up upset by the fight. But that's just the danger of making friends.
For the most part, even a "bad" FC is simply one that isn't doing much that you're interested in. No matter which one you're in, FC chat cannot be any more quiet than when you don't even have an FC at all. So try one, any one, and see who you meet there. If after a while you don't really like that group much, you can leave and try your luck with a different group. It shouldn't take too many tries before you find one you like and can start making friends.
