Is it possible to turn Arcanist into a Tank?

Here are my thoughts on the job "SENTINEL."

The job is a low health, mind focus, barrier Tank. The Tank uses spells like barrier or reflect to block attacks. The pets are fallen soldiers who wishes to still fight for the land even after death. Summon 1 is a Lancer/sword and shield mostly focus on more defensive abilities that protect the tank by absorbing a small portion of damage that was taken by the Tank. Summon 2 is a great sword wielding pet that focus on doing damage.

I think Arcanist is the perfect class to be the jack of all trades. What do you guys think?

This sounds more like a necromancer. Would be cool but i dont think arcanist can become a tank sadly.

A third job out of Arcanist would be very weird. If they choose to keep the current class/job system, I'd like them to focus on giving every class their 2nd job first. Far more interesting.

Oh, just got another idea thank. Turning archer into a healer known as "Harpy" or whatever that heals and buff through song.

Just slap on tank accessories, whip out your titan Egi/topaz, and you're good to go.

Besides, as Summoner Titan-Egi can tank anything in the open world (except S rank hunt mobs) and can even successfully tank certain dungeons (with the help of the healer).

With another Summoner, I've even managed to have 2 Titan-Egi's tank Titan HM.. and that was quite a bit of fun and challenge.

Uhm, Titan EGI can tank anything IN THE GAME.
Even Ramuh extreme. He can even solo tank that.

Not anymore, they patched it to make Titan Egi take way more damage and basically made the fight undoable with Titan Egi tank.

Titan Egi is op, but he can't tank EVERYTHING. His greatest weakness is physical attacks. His Magic Resist is so ridiculously high that he can sneeze at any aoe damage and even tank Leviathan's head (and Ramuh when Ramuh was first released). However, send Titan Egi against any boss with high physical attack (Titan, Rafflesia, Nael Deus Darnus, hell even the T1 boss) and you'll find him getting one or two shotted.

Not sure I like the concept you've worked up, but I do like the idea of a tanking pet class. I used to play puppet master back in FFXI. While mostly a damage dealing class, it's automaton could take over tanking in a pinch, and since then I've always wanted to see a pet tank full time.

Technically Arcanist can be any role in the game. Scholar is a Healer (Eos) and a Supporter (Selene) while Summoner is a Tank (Titan-egi), melee DPS (Ifrit-egi) and a ranged DPS (Garuda-egi).

Just don't expect to be good at any of them other than Healer and Ranged DPS. Otherwise everyone would just play Summoners and Scholars all the time.
