ATMA: the worst thing ever made on A Realm Reborn

Final Fantasy XIV version 1.0 has a lot of worst thing and then A Realm Reborn replaced it. Now for the first time in this new version of Final Fantasy XIV we got the worst thing ever made: the ATMA.

Three long weeks doing FATE for 3 hours at day. This past week-end I played for over 15 hours. Well, I got only 2 ATMAs after all this time... There are people that got all 12 ATMAs in just a very few days.

I thought that this game was about dedication, but seems is just about be very lucky an this is not the kind of entertainment that I'm looking for in a videogame.

    For many, dedication=time.

    I agree 100%,

I really wish they would do something to change it.

It's not like 1 or 2 people are complaining about it, I see different people complaining everyday.

Optional or not, if this many people complain then something has to be wrong with it.

And there are PLENTY of way to make it the way difficulty or even harder w/o the annoyance of a RNG determining the entire thing.

I deeply resented atma until I heard the news of CT2. Now I am fine with it

Took me 40 hours, and over 1000 Fates to Collect all my Atma Stones.

It is not easy to collect them all. It takes time. Dedication. And most of all remembering that each stone you collect is one step closer to being done.

There is nothing wrong with the Atma Quest.

Say for the sake of argument they changed it and made it so you had to kill a boss for each stone. RNG is taken out and its now a guaranteed drop of the stone for each player. Restricted to One Atma Boss fight every 40 hours. 12 fights in total.

The ilvl requirement SE sets is 60, and its put in Duty Finder

    But Here is the Kicker.

It's like T7, requires at-least everyone in ilvl90 and one mistake from anyone wipes the raid in most cases. .01% room for failure. Instant kill Mechanics and you can fall off the platform like in Titan. Oh and its a 10min Hard Enrage timer.

The same people who complain now, would complain about this.

More that likely by the time 2.35 rolls around you will see a nerf to the Atma/Animus quest line, no sooner.

You really don't get the point, its not about the time or the dedication. It the fact that the only thing you are fighting is a Random Number Generator.

Its basically rolling a 100 sided dice until you get 100, then you have to do that 12 times, o and you have to do something that is incredibly boring(I am sorry but most fates are either kill this big bad or kill a bunch of small monsters)/repetitious in order to earn even one dice roll.

Also if you don't get that 100, you have nothing to show for it besides the opportunity to try to earn a roll again.

Maybe you have nothing to show for it, but people who play the fates smart get lots of other stuff done simultaneously, while waiting for the dice to come up atma 3.25% of the time.

Yes, I know that percentage is rather specific.

Serious question, maybe it can make the grind less boring?

    1. GC seals drop at a regular rate, and pretty fast rate when farming fates level 30+.
    2. Using the seals, you get easy access to repeating quick ventures indefinitely
    3. ...as well as spiritbonding draughts. Farm fates with gear you can convert into profitable materia at a nice pace.
    4. Basic gil drops aren't that impressive, but the gil rewards from satisfying challenge logs can add up.
    5. Chocobo grinding is not just convenient to do for safety/speed in fates, every week you can kill 100 mobs (in fates due to levelsync), which will gurantee an extra 15% chocobo xp for the given level, once a week.
    6. I do try and team up not only for some socializing and cooperative groaning when new members get the drop as soon as they join, but to speed up general fate completion rates.
    7. Now that my main class weapon is no longer zenith, I found farming atma as an opportunity to practice rotations and macros on my less-used classes.
    8. Beastmen daily quests have some fate drops which you can farm in advance. I find this a matter of convenience, but still handy.
    9. And of course, occasionally getting atma. I have 72 so far, and the average droprate has been 3.25%.

The one bit of side strategy I employ- Sometimes I go on for hours with no drops. Now I know this could be purely RNG, but out of habit i try and rule out potential 'zenith detection' game bugs too, by changing out of a zenith weapon class, and back in, every once in awhile.

No regrets, as my per- atma wait has never been over 10 hours. Ever.
