I'm not a fan of limited time event rewards(Shantotto minion, Brickman minion, Lightning/snow gear/hairstyles) Putting them in a cash shop for people who missed them has absolutely zero downside to it. Also many of the items will be obtainable in game.
A cash shop? OH NO! our game is broken... No it isn't. The very fact at how successful Cash shops are in MMOs for vanity items, obtainable in game or not prove that a lot of people don't care. I for one pay attention listen and make up my mind after its out. I see no problem with it so long as its no buying your way to the top or "pay to win" people just need to get a grip.
"oh no this persons running around with a vanity pet that's cash bought and has no real change in the game or my experience, my game is ruined" That is essentially how people sound when they cry about it.
"...Is usually..."While I do not plan to quit the game I will be watching the situation very closely. A Cash Shop, no matter what they are selling, is usually the first step in a game moving towards Free to Play. I know that Yoshi-P has stated that he would shut the game down before going there he has said a number of things that he has reversed himself on. Should this game ever go F2P then I, also, will go somewhere else as will a large number of other players.
Again with the assumptions from people who don't understand why other games went down that path or even had to go down that path. Go look up why Star Wars ended up the way it did, for example. History stands against the assumptions as well as officials from the company.
And this complaining that constantly fills the forums is asinine. "Yoshi lied about personal housing! Yoshi lied about the Lightning FATE coming back!" You can still buy your own personal house, last I checked, with more plots coming up soon. They have legitimate reasoning for why they can't do an instanced house for every single player, but because someone on reddit posts up their assumption based on a minimal knowledge of networking and game design people instantly distrust people who do this for a living?
Oh yeah? What "promises" did he break that are completely game destroying. Instead of lying to other players about it, why don't you explain.

Or instead of passing info through twitch they can post an official announcement of everything they have going into the store at this point. It should be first and expansion new should be second. Next alot of people have lived through decade of misinfo from the company. Last time I checked Yoshi is an employ and not an owner. He doesn't get to decide when the servers get shut down. All this complaining based on misinformation, assumptions, and fear is getting ridiculous. You can either trust what Yoshi-P has said multiple times now, or you can live as a slave to your own ignorance, but stop trying to drag other players out the door with your bad, misinformed decisions.
To the main posters point its fine for someone to say they quit. I have not unsubscribed since 1.0 i just removed my billing info. So does SE ask why you left. Some games like to know.

Scroll down and look for the prices and tell me prices haven't come down. If you haven't saved up gil in anticipation for housing for the past ten, plus, months, then that's your fault.
Also no idea where you got he said he'd never change 1.0. He came into the game in December 2010 and after a year of attempting to salvage it, it was decided it redo the whole thing based on:
"However, outdated and cumbersome programming choices in the game code prevented the more radical changes necessary to improve the game." taken from the Wiki on A Realm Reborn.
Its a successful game, it didn't resort to Pay2Win whenever the monthly sub was removed during 1.0, and XI has gone how many years without going free to play or Pay2Win? Yoshi is basically top chain of command when it comes to ARR and well respected in the company, so if his game was doing badly, I could see the company forcing him, but that's not the case. These are the kind of facts I'm talking about.Or instead of passing info through twitch they can post an official announcement of everything they have going into the store at this point. It should be first and expansion new should be second. Next alot of people have lived through decade of misinfo from the company. Last time I checked Yoshi is an employ and not an owner. Given that it is only vanity items, I have no problem with the 'cash shop'. Not that I have any intention of using it either. The OP and anyone else has every right to do what they want with their sub and money, but to quit the game just because this just seems a little... silly, if you ask me.

People can dis this guy all they want. They are doing exactly what they are supposed to. Like the cash shop or not, If enough others don't and they also leave no amount of fan boi flag waving will save your precious game. It's the simple truth.
this isn't true.

both pretty much say the same thing at the bottom of the wall of text about f2p.
If there is an impression that I am somehow attached to the subscription model, then I'd like to use this chance to say that is not true.
If there's an impression that I'm determined to stick to a subscription service, that's a mistake
Whoa whoa, calm down kid, before you pop a vein. When did I say it was "completely game destroying"? All I was saying was that just because they say something now doesn't mean it'll still be true several months down the line. You're setting yourself up for a bad time if you think that a single quote will be the final word on something in this ever-changing game. It would be in everyone's best interest to take such statements with a grain of salt until they are actually solidified later on.
