ATI / AMD cards AO shadow line bug, any way to get rid of it?

without turning off AO, is there a way to fix this issue? basically, there is a slanted shadow line running from the upper half of the screen to the lower half in a cross patern. imagine measuring the size of the monitor, you measure from upper left corner to lower right corner. well at that plane the bottom half of the image is lighter and the upper half is darker.

would really love for a fix without disabling the AO feature.

AO is such a resource hog I get FPS dips even on my pretty darn good rig, what the hell do you run that you can use AO without any ill effects?

Can't say I've experienced the problem either, although I've only done brief tests with AO on and normally keep it off since I'm not running an ATI card that is at the top of the range.

Perhaps some context with what I DO know - this game was designed and calibrated with Nvidia cards. The official graphics benchmark also strongly favours Nvidia technology use as a consequence. Thus, there is always a slight possibility that Ambient Occlusion doesn't work properly on some newer ATI cards.

I've seen it. AO destroys my frame rate so I just didn't pay attention to it since I was going to disable it right away.
