    Regarding Auto-Attack

I was trying to find the thread, but I couldn't. This is a question regarding an issue I am facing with the controller on PS4. I've been giving MNK a shot and I notice that my auto-attack sometimes skips when I move from back to flank or the other way around. I have read that you can 'fix' this by using lock-on but that just seems tedious.

Is there another solution? Has this been addresses properly or is it really a non-issue?

On the controller I am not sure if you can change it or not, but what I do is change my settings to legacy. After that go into your settings and change your turn left and turn right to strafe left and strafe right. What that does is make it so you are only moving in the direction you want to go, not actually turning, so you are not missing any auto attacks. If that is not possible for you to set up on controller, the only other thing I can think of is the lock-on feature.

Well, that's rather annoying. When the bosses are bigger it sometimes feels like I'm losing more due to the "distance" I have to travel from back to flank for example and it increases the probably of an auto-attack not hitting. I try to minimalize the distance between back and flank (for example), though. Would there be any suggestion though to try and make it more even? Isn't it the case that when you have the target locked on that it's zoomed in as a melee to an annoying extend?

The lock-on feature is very annoying as it also causes you to back pedal instead of running backwards, which in turn can get you hit. As for minimizing movement, you can stay in between the empty space and the target's semi-circle in order to not do so much movement.

Yes, that's very true. I wouldn't mind of the auto-lock isn't zo zoomed in and it is easier to move away from the target when you have to dodge. But how would that work, though? Because now you have to undo the lock-on in order to run away from aoe. Maybe make it more sensitive in the way that when you go or try to go back it automatically disables the auto-lock. This is rather hard to explain. But when I'm using a controller, I'm close to the target, of course. They should make it so that when I use auto-lock, it disables it as soon as I would move away as I would without auto-lock. If that makes any sense. It is rather annoying that PC gamers have to advantage yet again.

I would not say we have an advantage per se, its just more of full utilization of settings, my movement settings are by no means default. I would say for most people playing melee a good number of them are not doing what I am doing. These people might have issues with auto attacks as well and would not even know that a simple change of settings could fix that. Until I can log into the game I would not be able to tell you exactly what to do because I do not know all of the available settings for a controller.

If you look at the target circle on the ground, you can see a break in the circle which is where the line is between flanking and rear attacks. Sticking around that point can reduce your movement on any target.

On a PC you can just move while facing the target. When you use analogs, you look away from the targets whilst playing wit KB and mouse keeps you facing the target. At least, that's what my brother had when he played FF. This is not an option for those who play with a gamepad. I will check this thread out for an update on your part if you wish to share.
    @ Warlord, I know.

Just practice locking and unlocking by pushing down the left joystick, just like pc users have to practice spinning the camera around when they need to run backwards. It has become second nature to me now. Also, in a lot of cases the enemy "hitbox" is decently large so you can attack from a farther distance away than what you think would be possible. There's many enemies you can safely backpedal out of AOEs if you stay at max attack range.

Also after locking on, you should be able to zoom in/out and have the game remember the zoom distance next time you enable lockon again.
