Since NA revealed Ninja (dps), EU revealed Dark Knight (tank), maybe JP will reveal a healing class. So, the gunner class is a healing type. Of course, this is assuming they are just adding 3 new classes.

Ninja is not part of the expansion, I think they will add more then 2 jobs in an expansion. I would expect one of each so there is still room for dps with a healer to be hinted at next. A shooting healer doesn't make much sense to me.

Pretty sure, Ninja will not count toward 3.0 jobs. so I expect another dps to be announced between now and 2.5 probably. Ninja is part of the 2.0 base class. Really NA FanF didn't reveal ninja as we already had the reveal for that since E3. Drk knight was revealed, and confirmed in EU, Gunner was hinted at again at EUFan and will be revealed at JPN Fan, hopefully they reveal the 3rd Job as well for the JPN Fan.
"You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war."
Think some people only played FFXI out of the Final Fantasy series due to their obstinate belief that if it doesn't match Final Fantasy XIs version of a job, it aint staying true.
Thing is SE do things differently with each Final Fantasy. Get over it.
I'm pretty sure you're none of the people who designed any of the FF games from the 80s - now, so you can't really say they "should have been" when the design Square went with was a Damage Dealer that sacrificed HP to enhance their abilities or deal damage. Secondly, people who say "FFXI isnt the only FF game, think of the other games" seems to be the most fixated on how XI did things, despite in the past, it has never been a 'tank', even though tanks didn't matter in the offline titles. Cecil, for example, wasn't a 'tank' until he renounced his dark knight ways and went paladin - the actual of the FF series, iconic one anyway.
Does it use a weapon? - What class doesn't use a weapon?so lets do a check least
does drk use a mele weapon
yes
does drk wear heavy armor(plate) Yes
does Drk have the ability to hold agro (yes)
so there you go the reason why it makes sense it being a tank
Does it wear heavy armor? - So does Dragoon - Let's see how they work a tank, I suppose?
Does it have the ability to hold aggro? - You're not supposed to, means your tank is doing terribly.
"So there's the reason why it makes sense to be a tank" - That logic means WHMs are tanks too, they can hold hate no problem if they choose to spam medica II before the tank even gets initial hate.
^ Here's an example of someone who only Played XI accusing others of only playing FFXI, because pretty much anyone disappointed actually didn't bring up FFXI aside the fact in XI they used Scythes as well as Great Swords.
Nope!
Played 3,4,5,7,8,9,10,13. In fact I hated the combat system waaaaaay too slow in FFXI that I didnt play it for very long.
So what's it like being totally wrong about me?
Also, where did I mention DRK? Ooops, I didn't it, only you did, which means I wasn't talking specifically about DRK. It was a generalised statemant which covers all jobs that arent the same as there FFXI counterparts and players complaining that they aren't.

DRK was not usually a tank. Get over it

Beautifully said. It's what makes Final Fantasy amazing, IMO

The only thing that has remained true in the FF series is WHM is a healer, BLM is a magic damage caster RDM can do very little of both and primarily uses a sword of some kind. RDM likely wont be released until they are ready for a hybrid support class. I think it'll be more closely related to bard we have now with some slight healing ability and buffs/debuffs on attacks rather than be restricted to only healing.
