    For Yoshi-P how to theme Red & Blue Mage as DPS

    How to make Blue Mage and Red Mage fit within the game, while retaining the flavor essence of what the class is all about.

    Goal: Dont break trinity of dps/tank/heal get classic flavors into those roles.

    Blue Mage - DPS

    "Learn Enemy Ability" Adds a buff that changes depending on the type of enemy that the NPC has flagged. One for each element, a light, dark, and a phisical category. 15 sec buff. 5 second cast.
    "Damage Spell 1", Gain a buff "Speed Cast".
    "Speed Cast" reduces "Learn Enemy Ability" by 1 second lasts 5 seconds.
    "Damage Spell 2", adds a stack to the "Speed Cast" only if comboed off of "Damage Spell 1".
    "Damage spell 3", adds a stack to the "Speed Cast" only if comboed off of "Damage Spell 2".

    "Cast Enemy Ability", consumes "Learn Enemy Ability" buff. Attack will always do the same damage number, but visually will change depending on what category the buff is. Only exception is the physical category, where it will be a claw slash or something that has a cone, or cleave area of effect. Requiring you to run up to the target. 5 second cast. Gains 1 stack of "Enemy Within" buff
    "Enemy Within" buff lasts 30 seconds. Can stack 3 times.
    "Damage Spell 4", gain a buff "Speed Cast 2".
    "Speed Cast 2" reduces "Cast Enemy Ability" by 1 second lasts 5 seconds.
    "Damage Spell 5", adds a stack to the "Speed Cast 2" only if comboed off of "Damage Spell 4".
    "Damage Spell 6", adds a stack to the "Speed Cast 2" only if comboed off of "Damage Spell 5".
    "Unleash Enemy Within", instant cast, requires 3 stacks of "Enemy Within".

    To simplify the basic rotation idea with a blue mage theme is: cast 3 spells to lower learn ability to 2 seconds. Learn an ability, then cast 3 spells to lower cooldown of casting enemy ability, cast enemy ability. After three enemy ability attacks can use a hard hitting attack that visually represents the last category of learned ability.

    More details/spells can be added this is just a theme where Blue Mage would fit. Same goes with Red Mage.

    Red Mage - DPS

    Theme, Mid range caster, cloth and armor mix. Along with basic spells, can empower weapon with magic and run into melee range to attack. You would be at range for parts of the rotation, other parts require you to finish off in melee range. While having party benefits similar to mantra, not able to directly heal but assist the heals of healers. Those style of buffs should be woven in between the Global cooldown of its main rotation abilities. This interplay between spells, adjusting ranges, and deciding when to casually assist in a boss fight should make it interesting and fun to play. Keeping a jack of all trades feel while not tanking or healing focusing on an enjoyable dps role.

    If you support this reply with thoughts and like. If you want to see Red and Blue Mage added to the game lets try to get attention of the devs. Give them something liked that can fit into the construct of the existing game.

    They stated back in 2.0 that Hybrid roles were being planned. No reason to force RDM into one of the 3 roles when it could be a Hybrid.

    I see RDM more as a hybrid like Kirana said. I see it filling heal/debuf role myself.

    I thought more recently they stated hybrid classes were a bad idea for game design, and they were not planning on implementing them.
