I also never got into the Fate zerg parties in 2.0. Agree with the bad tanks though XD Many times ended up having to tank 90% of the dungeon as MNK or SMN with Titan on low level roulette when Ive ran them with those jobs. Generally I join as PLD or WAR. Also I've succesfully tanked practically everything in game, have a turn 9 geared PLD.

More often than not I tank lvl 50 dungs using my 110 MNK accs instead of tank ones using sword oath with good healers, too many times out DPS the DPSers too :P

This game also uses tank swaps. Damage through HP could be its OT ability if the healers can handle it. Drains, spikes, absorbs could be the MT abilities.

ugh i hate that drk is gonna tank but then again im relieved it wasn't samurai. was already disappointed my archery class became a bard and my favorite job to tank as in xi is now a dps. Honestly if something works don't change it @.@ all these new mixes are really bleh to me and make me want to resub to XI.. (no i dont want xi-2 just the jobs..)

Dark Knight will probably have an offensive stance and deal damage comparable to Warrior, if not more damage. Each class has it's own strengths, perhaps DRK will excel at being on Main Tank for shorter periods of time so the heavier tanks can tank longer, so the DRK can dps more.

But I am REALLY glad it's a tank. DRK being a tank mean less people will confidently play it, and since I've got WAR and PLD, I'm so ready to play my favorite job.

You know that will be very interesting to see if they started to design Stand Alone Jobs with the ability to fit into 2 Job Roles. Though Dark Knight is now a Tank only role, I do hope future stand alone Jobs will have the ability to take on 2 Job Roles for group content.

It's apparently an evade-tank? I guess if it does have abilities that sacrifice it's own HP, evasion is the only kind of tanking it could afford to do...

That and HP Drain abilities, Keep in mind it is possible they also kept the HP Drain aspect of Dark Knight so it can be a Evading/HP Drain Tank. This would allow Dark Knight to steal HP from enemies to keep itself alive which can be a very vital mechanic for Dark Knight as a Tank.

This just in guys,
SE are planning to make 80% of new classes/jobs in the Future, doesn't matter if that job is healer or dps in their previous incarnation, into a TANK ROLE.
Why with this decision you may ask?
Because we will Never Ever Eva have Tank Shortage again!!! Major Decreasing wait time, Insta que dungeon for everyone!!

I love how salty some people are being in here because it doesn't match XI. So what warrior never had a history of being a tank before XI either.

I thought this was interesting too. Even in XI, WAR became more or less a DPS class.
