I for one am ecstatic to see DRK confirmed as a tank.
QuQ
TY SE for making my dreams come true. I'll look forward to it.
Honestly, though, i have no idea why anyone is complaining that the DRK's classic ability to sacrifice HP for a huge dps spike is bad for a tank. They'll just work on a sliding scale (much like warriors and paladins already do with sword oath and no-defiance making them squishier but improving dps). We already have a damage mitigation tank, and a self healing tank, why not make dark knight a dps-optional tank? Give a good HP pool that can be sacrificed for dps to deal with trash pulls or finish off bosses. I can imagine this working spectacularly, especially if the damage spikes are high enough to out dps a healer in dps mode. Like any job it will most likely just be about knowing when to use your tools at the appropriate time.![]()

Says a lot when the disappointment post gets more upvotes than the announcement post.
I'm really sad DRK is a Tank.
Now I'm hoping & praying we get a DPS-Gunner & Samurai DPS to make up for DRK taking a Tanking Role.
If DRK & SAM were both Tanks, I would cry profusely.
Sadly I would've preferred SAM Tank but no way if DRK isn't a DPS.
Lesser of two evils.
he is mad....only 3 posts...but full of rageeeeeeeee on capslock of course
Drk are tanks for 1 reason :
WE NEED MORE TANKS , and DRK are perfect for that because 2h sword (wannabe cloud) , darkness magic....lawl dark magic im badass roaarrr
i was scared of the amount of NIN....but im sure DRK Are going to be EVERYWHERE....feel sorry for REAL tanks....
lol hate to be that guy who makes a snarky comment but, why couldn't NIN be a tank again? Making DRK a tank is just weird, I guess the gun class they reveal is going to end up being a healer lol.
Just logged on to say that nothing screams "DD" louder than a job that historically sacrifices HP to deal more damage.
Thanks Square for destroying that.
Whoever wanted to play DRK right from the start (remember that poll in which DRK was one of the most expected jobs?), wanted to do it as a DD, not as a tank. There are *plenty* of other jobs who could've become one. DRK is also the opposite of PLD, yet the role is the same, too.
I personally have been waiting for DRK long since jobs were implemented in 1.23, and now I feel cheated.
This is, of course, based on a personal point of view, *my* personal point of view.
And, personally, once again, thanks Square.
Because Yoshi wants to play his Night Elf Death Knight.
The only thing Gafgarion ever sacrificed was his MP, and he was a BEAST.Just logged on to say that nothing screams "DD" louder than a job that historically sacrifices HP to deal more damage.

If you didn't unequip his sword before the fight with him you might actually lose. Dark Knight being tank seems more than fitting to me.
i want to be a "bright" 2 handed sword user. not some wanna be edgy role...![]()
