Where is it stated that Silvertear Lake was used by the Allagans to store Aether? As far as I know, it's just the aether hub of the world. But I haven't done coils, so I might be missing information.

Absolutely nowhere. CT was meant to harvest the energy from Dalamud and the sun, but it has never been stated that this energy was sent to Silvertear.
It was never used by the Allagans to store aether, only as a place to seal the Primals. Mor Dhona is just the natural "heart" of all of the world's aether.
Fixed - Irrelevant/Incorrect note removed. Points remain valid. Continue discussion. And, finally, yes, Silvertear is from where the modern primals came. The Allagan used the lake to trap the weaker primals (trapping primals was kind of their thing #gottacatchemall). What's interesting here is that Midgarsormr was/is the "Keeper of the Lake", it's protector. This means it's likely that the Allagan assigned him this task using some variation of their dragon mind-controll devices.
