If it's a pay to win item that gives a clear advantage ingame? Like if they sold means to get better gear in Cash Shop, no way people will put up with that in a subscription game even if it could potentially lead to more in game content (which it won't, because of the exodus).

Nobody is saying that the game is dying

there are more minions that are exclusive as bonus code for some physical merch than mogstation exclusive ones. So shouldn't that make the SE store pay 2 win too?
    really makes you thonk...

Like the Tsukuyomi minion that I thought was craftable, or the Shiva emote from ages ago.

The one thing I wouldn't mind actually being in the cash shop are replica armors for past savage tiers. Savage content is so time consuming as is that there's not really time to go back and get older armor unless it's ancient, like ARR coil stuff or Alexandrian.

Except it's "a bit more comfort in managing space", not P2W. It's certainly a nice bonus, along with possibility to level those retainers and send them on ventures, but it's not something what will make you OP in comparison to others.

WoW and FFXIV tend to differ in execution of the end game due to the gameplay avenues they both provide. WoW is all about linear progression via combat, with crafting being a supplement to that direction. FFXIV tends to have linear progression as an option. They have crafting and other things that people can participate in.

WoW and FFXIV are vastly different games, though they share some similarities. WoW caters to raiders and competitive gaming. PvP, arenas, progression. Zero story and stock characters. And it’s worked fine for them.

FFXIV caters to gamers who like story and RP. The devs here go out of their way to minimize competition as much as possible. They won’t even officially allow third party parsers for this reason. They think it adds to toxicity. And having played WoW for 12 years, I can tell you, they are right. It has or had one of the worst communities in all of gaming.

In my experience, people that complain games are too easy or casual have never themselves actually played any of said game’s harder content. They are also distinctly absent from the few hardcore games that are out there right now. They would rather be here on the forums complaining about “casuals.” Which...is EXACTLY what people in WoW are doing. Probably right now.

Here’s the thing. Casual games are what sells. Hardcore games like WildStar don’t survive these days. But there are some still alive. Eve Online, The Secret World, Rust. That latter game is absolutely brutal.

I just know you’ve played those games since you’re hardcore. I mean, I’m SURE of it. Right?

No need to dream. Another publisher has already thought of this idea, and has got you covered. Creation Club. Imagine that implemented in XIV!

You are basing this one what facts? I hate these kind of "arguments", as if posting on the forums actually takes much time investment. I can type up a several paragraph post while waiting on a queue, or in the PF on the other screen WHILE waiting on doing that harder content.

Personally, I don't do harder content much, because I have no interest. More so, I do not have the interest in having to be a part of a dedicated group or guild. Same reason I don't play Destiny 2, for example. I do not want to dedicate significant hours of my week to progging, clearing, whatever. On a set schedule, and even if not I just don't want to get involved with another clan again. I get bored quickly. One day I will be playing and progging, and the next day I will start watching the ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 instead of gaming for the next month.

Aside from that, personally I see no purpose to min-max or actually do savage and the like to get slightly better gear. I can get more than good enough gear for all the content this game offers from the duty finder alone. What is the purpose to do savage and the like? If I wanted cosmetic rewards I can just wait for the next expansion or whatever and get it easier than I ever could before, same with extremes. Since I already have no interest in a static or guild, worthless to someone like me. Unfortunately the rest of the game has content that is easily burned through, and sub-par PvP. No real lasting content.
