I've been reading all the cash shop threads with interest for the last week. Of all the people opposed to the idea, I haven't seen anyone express worry about it being pay-to-win.
The the way the response is worded might comfort people, in that it could be construed to mean that the items in the cash shop are not only in the cash shop, but also obtainable in game. However, taken another way, the same sentence can mean exactly what people were afraid of, a bunch of exclusive items wasting development resources no matter how minute, that could have been used to develop content for everyone.
I don't really want to see this game and SE become like blizz and WoW. Where all the mounts that aren't reskins, and all the pets with more than 2 polys are only available via microtransaction.

Not to mention, if you did pet battles, then WoW IS pay to win. Some of their pets they sell are stupidly OP in Pet battles.
I used to do a lot of pet battles, but then they continuously released ugly-ass pets with stupid OP abilities on the cash shop (they knew exactly what they were doing), so I stopped playing.

I honestly didn’t realise that this particular thread was an old one. There was two recent cash shop threads so I thought the link was to the other recent one, so I dun goofed.
I guess it says something about how common and unchanging these threads are.
