European Servers being moved to Europe

This is great but now I am kicking myself for being on a NA server. The reason I did this was because I had friends there and I figured latency would be the same since the EU servers were in the same place anyway.

I could move but the ridiculous restrictions in place are well...ridiculous. I am not prepared to throw most of my gil away or mess about buying things to sell on the other server, potentially losing most of it anyway. Only being allowed to take 2 million gil is not enough!

Don't worry too much, I made a 5mil profit when I transferred from Excalibur to Ragnarok. It was a massive pain converting the gil to items and back but it's much easier now. Back when I did it high value materia meant 100-170k. If only I hadn't sold it all straight away. The key is to make an alt on the server you're going to and make a spreadsheet of market prices and sale rates for high value items on both servers, then spend your gil accordingly.

That'll be up to the EU players in your FC. I imagine the EU labelled worlds will be transferred en masse to the new datacenter. EU players on other servers will have to transfer. Would be a good idea I think to offer a free transfer window once the new datacenter goes live.

Actually it's up to the NA players are we are on Ragna.

Do we really suffer such bad latency that we need a more localized server?

Not really. Ping is around 150ms which is more than enough for any MMO esp one with 2.5s GCD.

What really needs to be adjusted is the 400ms position refresh interval. THAT + latency results in you taking damage despite being out of the bad stuffz already because your pos. data might be outdated by .5s (worst case).

Putting the servers into the EU won't bring even half as much improvement as people hope it will.

Somewhere around Germany/Czech Republic/Austria-ish would be fine. The UK is probably too far west to be optimal for everyone.

This type of ignorance makes me wish we could downvote. Do you Americans forget that one of your STATES (Alaska) is farther north than most of Canada? Go check a map for what constitutes North America. HINT.. it's everything north of Colombia INCLUDING Canada...
