If they give us an option to give the queue-sound a different volume than the rest of the game, that would suffice. Having the entirety of the background sound enabled, hearing every goldspam whisper and so on, isn't really ideal.
The sound setting in this game has separate sliders. You can tune down type of sound that you don't need, like ambient sound in your case.
Just go to System Configuration then Sound menu. Then tune the slider to your liking.
Do you HAVE to browse the forum on the same device you play the game? I play on a console so I have the luxury of using my computer for that, but surely your computer isn't the only device you have that can browse the web.To prevent people from fishing for in progress, 3 times per hour would have been enough of a restriction, 3 times per day seems harsh, especially considering that the FFXIV icon doesn't even flash in the task bar if you're alt tabbed and, for example, reading the forum to pass some queue-waiting-time. If they implement something to actually notify me when a queue is finally found if I've the game minimized, I'll welcome this change with open arms.
You young kids sure loves to play with many gadget at once. Try your own suggestion couple more years and see if you're still comfortable doing it. lol
I like what they are doing but I think it needs to be adjusted.
3 in 1 hour lock out for a day maybe.
As a tank I see DPS timing out all the time, and now that I'm leveling my BRD with 20+ min queues I can see how easy it would be to go AFK and miss it.
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
I think the 3 in 1 day penalty is a bit harsh, unless you can still go into content as a full 8 man group. Also kinda sucks if you're trying to join a friend's in progress queue and it tries to throw you into a different queue. Either eat the penalty or run the content.
I don't know, I really don't think this change was necessary. ST is probably the worst offender and even it's not unbearable. If anything, I think rage quitting should be the one getting this kind of penalty, not queue withdraws.
This is FANTASTIC. My philosophy has always been that if you want to queue for DF, you need to make sure you have the time. No more ST fishing or spam, at least not near as much. Thanks SE! Its not a house, but I'll take it!
Its the damn tanks and healers that are the main problem, quitting when its not an in progress run because they get instant queues.
I knew about this, but sadly goldspam (whispers) counts as System Sounds, which is the same category the queue signal is in.
Actually, it is. I haven't hopped on the smartphone train yet.
