Yeah, I feel the same.Oh come on, it's not that old! Just shake off the cobwebs and it's as good as new.
On a slightly on-topic note, the recent patch notes mentioned that mobs will no longer give more exp based on familly, only in extreme cases. Personally I find this just another "broad stroke" to attack a problem and totally miss the point. One more blow to the diversity of monsters outside of the AI changes.
I want mah Eft AI back!![]()
Signed :3! I wasn't around during the AI but heard some stuff about it though.
I agree, i think it adds to the life of Eorzea having curious mobs.. I think the solution isn't to remove them all together, rather to fix them up to make 'em more interesting.. somethin like unsheathing your weapon make them flee..and as for the stubborn ones.. a challenge is always good every now and then.
More varied AI behaviour = More Dynamic lively Eorzea
Aldgoats: Look a person! Guys!! LOOK A PERSON!!! *Follows*I agree, i think it adds to the life of Eorzea having curious mobs.. Person: /p "LOL a group of Aldgoat are follow me, they're so cute with their curiousness xD"
Aldgoats: *A huge group is following the player now because they're so frickin' curious about him/her and starts sniffing the player*
Person: /sit
Aldgoats: /sit
Person: /attackmode
Aldgoats: /runaway
I want a Shepard class so I can own a farm offa the fa' o' the lan' and tend to the rabbits and milk the aldgoats and shear them..
Late to the party but yeah I miss the mob AI. Curious was a tad sketchy when I first played in OB/CE release but it was definitely interesting so I think like most here that, curious needs to have some tweaks or it can be dropped.

I always had to laugh when I was mining or logging in beta and attracted the attention of a Dodo or Aldgoat. I also remember players at Camp Bearded Rock using the /poke emote on Dodos to get them to attack. That type of mob interaction made the made the mobs in FFXIV seem more than loot piñatas. Someone above mentioned mobs that ran when weapons were drawn, I believe coblyns did indeed do that.
Well, i liked this more during beta, when just like monsters stop aggroing if you high enough but also they would become aggressive if you were too low.Aldgoats: Look a person! Guys!! LOOK A PERSON!!! *Follows*

It was sooooo cool that train of aldgoats following you...
"Ohhhh...they're so cool!"
*a billy a few ranks higher come closer...high enough to turn aggressive*
"Ohhhh! Another one! Lemme pass by it so it can follow me too..."
*Billy OHKO the player*
"Wtf....."
