I still like to see their heads follows us if we are near,... I still like the old idea of this.

One thing thou, how about make em "not" walking into us, if we are fighting/engaged..
or keeping some distance, a bit more.. that wont likely to be in our AOE range
that's should be more realistic. ^^
not like... "Dodo: Oh look !! that guy is killing a Coyblyn !! lets stick my neck near it see if I get sliced up too !!"

Just have most of the curious animals flee once the fighting starts, especially if they are hit with an AOE. Some of them should even flee as soon as you draw your weapon, because they know. Most should run away from an AOE rather than engage the attacker because that is just how most animals work.

Coblins following people around is probably one of the most memorable things for all the people who quit months ago. You got the feeling they will be extinct in no more than a few hundred years in Eorzea because they are just so dumb. If they were hit first with an AOE, they should go into their shell and not move, and eventually run away. Then if you attack them directly, they'd engage.

Remember the trailer when the coblins chase the miqote girl? Now when I see that I think 'ha don't worry they don't aggro, they are just going to follow you around!'

It's really cool though how there is basically a distinction in the game between animal wild life and monsters.

I want the curious animals as well, taking them out made it too easy. It was a test of skills to make sure you completed what ever task you had and either not aggro them or simply butchered them.

The game should not be easier just because some of the community feels is too challenging.

Besides as many said there could be triggers such as drawing your weapon out and that would scare them off or you could even /intimidate (emote) to have the same effect.

I think curious behavior still has a viable place in the game. Maybe just limit it to a few mobs that make sense to have it.
For instance, the only mob which follows you would be sheep. Monkeys and dodo will not follow you but stop and watch your movements from a slight distance. Enough that wouldn't interfere with most AOE attacks. Goats, to me, don't make any sense being a curious animal. In reality I've always found them to be slightly oblivious.

I like the idea of starting a spell casting or drawing a weapon "breaking" the curious behavior link.

Could ease some of the ire of curious behavior if you had to do something to initiate it yourself. Like certain emotes, or using food items. Maybe a goat would come follow you if you gave it some fruit, or a doblyn took interest after being /beckoned to. Perhaps there's an disgruntled ixal whom absolutely hates /dancing.

Oh come on, it didn't make anything easier or harder. It made things less frustrating and/or annoying. There's not a lot of skill involved in just not hitting your AoE attacks ever and it ends up really hurting classes like Marauder who then can't use Steadfast because it turns most of their attacks into AoE.

Having them run away with whatever trigger is fine.

I remember when I first got to Thanalan and a goat started following me. I nearly had a panic attack thinking it aggroed me.

I'd love to see a lot of this stuff brought back. It gave the world more of a sense that creatures had their own minds.

I don't understand, people really complain about the curious monsters? and SE listened? really?!

This is getting ridicules, what next? you want the agro mobs removed as well? should they make the game easier? Come on. People wanted the game to be more lively and the mobs have better AI. That WAS one of the ways. Just cause SOME people complained ALL the others got denied from this? seriously? Why wasn't it in a poll to ask us? or was it just the IMPORTANT community that complained and they listened?

So what you can't use your AoE? deal with it, That's part of the game. Pull the mob away, use none-AoE moves, but don't b$%# and say it's game breaking.

Seriously SE, this game does not need to be easier anymore.
