Bring back monster/animal AI.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
I'm not surprised. Who is really going to vote yes for less life in an MMO? Removing the AI all together was a rash decision, much like making everything bigger, and should definitely be reconsidered.
Yeah I was a little disappointed coming back recently to find all these unique features of the mobs were gone. The follow around "curious" mobs were I thought one of the coolest things ever. While it could be found to be annoying like more than 1 or 2 following you then they just bunch up, think just reworking that so they didn't or only did once and awhile would be much better.
I hope you bring this feature back, made the world feel much more immersive to me.
I miss monster AI! and I actually liked the curious mobs, they rarely got in my way, not to mention AOE occurs 180 in front of you..so i'd just turn my back to them and problem solved. Or just make them run when you draw your weapon..
I also liked the curious mobs when I was crafting out in the wilderness..a nice little opo would come up and say hi, or a dodo would give me his blessing, etc.
I really like the idea of having Mob AI back into the game. >_> I have no idea why SE would scrap such a good idea especially considering it adds more detail to this detail packed game that supposedly is the reason why we don't have as much content.
I can understand the annoyance of Aldgoats following you a little (annoying, but still cool) however the rest of it was absolutely awesome ideas with no drawbacks from my perspective.
Edit: I think a good fix for Aldgoat annoyance is to have them run away when a weapon is drawn near them.

This please.
I kinda feel like increasing the mob size was a bad plaster over fixing the real issue of the poor targeting system.
There are a few mobs out there that were large from conception that I wish would have a size decrease. Such as crabs and dreamtoads. Inside the new dungeon it makes me cringe that, by design, you are expected to clip through dreamtoads which can hardly fit the tunnel they are crammed in.
The crabs don't seem like much a bother until you are trying to fish, then they like to commandeer your entire screen.
Ah~~ I miss those good ol' times ^.^Personally I miss the days of being able to farm among efts as long as I watched my step and didn't move around them.
I miss when crabs would raise their claws at you if you came too close before attacking.
I miss when Deer would flee in my pressense.
Yes I also miss "Curious" monsters to an extent.
Personally I think SE removing these unique features "And who knows what else" from some monsters was a very bad move. I hereby declare this post to be a petition for Mob AI to be put back into the game, and for more monsters to have unique quirks.
Feel free to post what AI you know of, and what you think some awesome ideas would be, or great ways to tweak the system.
Known AI "Quirks"
What do you guys think? I personally wish efts were the way they used to be, it's sad to see them just flat out agro now.
- Funguar wont use Queasy cloud, or (not sure on name) Mushroom whip if you don't attack them when they inflate or deflate.
- Mice mobs tend to flee after you weaponskill and cower for a few moments
- Red crabs "Used to" Raise their claws instead of flat out agroing until you got closer to them
- Drakes will warn you before they agro
- Efts "Used to" Become "Aware" of your presense via sound, and if you stopped moving during this phase where they appeared to be listening for you...you could avoid agro!
- Many mobs used to follow you around Monkies, and Aldgoats being a prime example.
- Deer and Quqirn would run away from you.
As for the "Curious" monster I do think they need to have a short follow radius, only do so for a short time, and perhaps flee when you enter battle mode. "Not sure of many goats who would be curious about me after I started swinging"
Signed.
I miss different mob behaviourNow it is "black and white" as to whether they will eat your face or not.
Curious mobs and different styles of aggro made the game more interesting and immersive; and wasn't that something the developers were trying to improve not take away? Agreed with OP- bring back the mob AI. All animals/mobs should react differently to each other at the sight of a player about to weild a big pointy stick or axe at them! ^^

I'll sign this gladly, it was fun when the goats and what-not followed you around. ^^ Also adding the warning before aggroing to some "more wise" species sounds nice. The game looks amazing and the mechanics/details should be at least on the same level as graphics!
