Player Segregation. Can i NOT have it.

First they tell us that Caravan Escort will be company only.

We all understood, it was a R25 event that held little value late game and offered almost no reward other than Seals.

Secondly they tell us that players should choose what Company to choose based on the Speech and the one with most appeal (Good), only to inform us that loot drops will be influenced by keeping the same companies within a group (BAD)

What are the repercussions of pressuring people to all go with the most popular company if they want to stand a chance at joining a group or getting geared ASAP?

    "ULDAH OR GTFO".

One of the most appealing parts of this patch for a lot of people is the thought of spreading the population out to the ghost towns (Thanks to: Airship // Chocobo's // Company Leves ), however this part of the patch completely goes against that.

I just cannot fathom SE's contradictory train of thought sometimes.

I agree completely with your sentiments.

Unfortunately, foresight isn't one of Square Enix's strong points.

    /yes

It's genuinely disturbing to know that they have a team of developers WHO THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA.

The only thing that's going to change from one GC to the next is elemental alignment. Did you look at the GC gear? And you know from the flavor of the GC quests in recruit the quests will essentially be the same. The story is a little different but the quest is essentially identical. It's not far off from starting quests when you started the game...just think of this as version 2 restart.

I don't see an issue with spreading out people around. The whole idea is to spread people outside the core of just being in Ul'dah there's nothing wrong with their decision.

The gear drops from Ifrit will be the same. It's just the % of x, y, z item dropping will change.

    And what's the rush...it's a game!!!?

Sorry I don't really want everyone to play the same identical game I do. I want to have choices and consequences to my decisions. And sorry you think everyone will go to Ul'dah not everyone holds the Ul'dah mentality.

Sides if you look at the big picture Gridania is more central to the war with the empire then Ul'dah. If the empire begins war on the continent it'll have to smash through Gridania...and the most likelihood is that Gridania will fall and flee to Ishgard thereby starting a great coalition in Ishgard.

Maybe you in the wrong Linkshell? Mine will be happily playing with me no matter what GC I join...

And....they not saying it but probably the drops from say Ifrit will be of greater percentage towards the guilds in the city state of each GC.

This is just going back to the mentality that is preparing everyone for specializations into jobs. I would also not be surprised if they limited the number of final jobs we can be in. Be whatever class you want but come jobs you are gonna have to choose amongst a few not all...

    From the Japanese patch notes:

    なお、「イフリート討伐戦」では同じグランドカンパニーメンバーのみで構成されたパーティで挑むと報酬にボーナスが追加されます。

That's the sentence about better rewards everyone's talking about.「イフリート討伐戦」 is the part that's over the r30 Ifrit fight. No where in that sentence does 真イフリート討滅戦 appear, which is the part over the r50 fight. So, I think it's safe to say that the reward difference is only for the low-level version.

There are already stories of Linkshells FORCING players to choose GC.

Choices being sacrificed alongside with freedom. I don't understand that.

I'm all for individualism ect, but this not the right way to go about it

So your train of logic is to have people in linkshells not do dungeons together?

Your Gridania rant was also irrelavant.

At the end of the day, Players and Linkshells should not be penalised over a freedom of choice SE encouraged.

I don't understand where you get a penalty from? The same gears still drop...the only difference in the GC gear is elemental ...this complex people have of I want to have everything needs to stop.

It's a game...which is an MMO so the world is open ended...you should have to make choices some harder then others.

The penalty is the drop rate, isn't it obvious?!

And the main problem is, in one patch they've managed to seperated friends and linkshells twice, whats to stop them from doing it in future if we don't make the point of it?

I agree with MMO's being an open world, but there are better ways to go about immersion than segregation. Player immersion should be incouraged and leave the player with choices. Not forcing them to do so or miss out.
