Sthalmann had a very broad and solid foundation as a character, and he had a good deal of character development in comparison to other 1.0 NPCs.

It's mainly due to this reason I remember him so well. Sthalmann was a large part of why I kept playing for the main scenario in 1.0, but it wasn't enough to keep me in the game sadly.

It's sad; dressed as Sthalmann, I walked (/) through Limsa several times over, stopping to talk with Yellow Jackets, and not a single head turned.

It seems our friend is forgotten.

I think the biggest clue is that Merlwyb has Mistbeard's guns and Mistbeard disappeared a while before 1572. We now know that the last Mistbeard let the legend die because he believed Merlwyb could bring Limsa Lominsa forward and he wanted to be a part of it, so if he disappeared that long ago, perhaps she's been Admiral for quite a while.

You mean Eynzahr Slafyrsyn.
It's HEAVILY implied (both during "Through the Maelstrom" scenario and the "Hullbreaker Isle" side-quest) that he used to be the last iteration of Mistbeard.

Yes and no. Mistbeard was a name different pirates through the ages took (with the helm!). So you could say the last mistbeard is now working with the Admiral, but he isn't Mistbeard (as in "the legendary pirate") anymore.

What I know about him is that he has gone by the name Rostnsthal ever since he became a Pirate
