One-Handing Playing Suggestions

So in a couple weeks, I'm going to be getting surgery to fix a pinched nerve in my elbow. The doctor said it'd be like ten days recovery, so I'm kind of expecting that arm to be out of commission. Having very little interest in TV shows on right now, thinking my books may be too heavy for the non-dominant hand, and pretty sure I won't be out of it on pain meds, I decided to look into things I may be able to do in-game with my working hand.

To note, I'm a PS3 player using controller for play.

So far, all I've come up with is feveling fishing. Leveling crafting is a possibility because of quick synth, but I'm horrible at making gil to fund that for too long.

I don't think I can level classes too much, with using a ton of abilities.

...so going to fall behind on my alexandrite maps...

So I figured I'd see if anyone may have some suggestions for things I can do in case I need a change of pace.

fishing, botany, logging. you can do crafting 1 handed since it isn't timed you can set all the macros on your good hand and change page.

Do you have any other gatherers to level? They should be cheaper than fishing~ Tedious, but cheaper.

cant ps3 players use a mouse? with that u can do nearly everything but hard dungeons :P (avoid playing melee / tank :P)

I think PC has the best capability for any disability(permanent or temporary), can you connect a keyboard to your PS3?

Can you change the button assignments on PS3? Maybe change your R1 and L2 buttons so you can activate both sides of your cross hot bar with one hand. Possibly make all of your macros/etc on the triangle/square/circle/x buttons but on multiple pages. Movement might be an issue though, but maybe if you could also switch the R3 and L3 buttons then you can handle movement also with the same hand you hit your macros with. As for targeting mobs, make a macro that would tab between targets. Or even a macro that makes you target what your tank is fighting. I don't know if any of this helps or if you can even do any of these things on PS3. Flip all of my suggestions if you're using your left hand though

I realize this might be difficult actually, switching between pages on your cross hotbar. Not sure how you would go about that if R1/L2 are switched.

You can gather certain items (mining/botany) depending on what is selling well on your server. That way you can still play and level if you need to. Sell a few stacks of popular items and make some money in the process. Or hold on to them for when you need the items to craft with! Fishing is laid back and relaxing. It would be a nice time for you to chill. The profit isn't always there. But you could stand in one spot for quite a while if your arm hurts to much.

It helps if you have long fingers. The PS3 controller I mastered with one hand its nice because it smaller than the PS4 controller. Though not mastered yet, I have become pretty good with the PS4 controller, one handed, the only thing is the touchpad which is very easily "touched" and it activates the cursor. I could change it but what fun would that be.

Battles are not that bad as long as the hotbar is setup with main attacks to one side, defensive to the left (playing as PLD). Macros too will help ( though I don't use them) for short term it may be better. Haven't done any dungeons one handed, but FATES and any other above ground battles aren't bad. Heck I have even used my chin to hit buttons. Gotta do what you gotta do. Though I have been doing this for years, 10 days may not be enough to get the hang of it.

A 12 button mouse like my razer naga would be perfect for that.

Guess I should've specified hand was which. The one getting the surgery is right, and I'm pretty much planning to stick to the left half of my controller. While keyboard is a possibility, I don't have a place for a mouse, even if I could adjust to using it.
