Where to go?

Hey all. Playing Final Fantasy XIV again, dabbled a little, and I mean little, in the original version of the game, and played a bit after it was re-released.

My problem is that the folks I played with before, (mostly family and friends), no longer play the game. I was wondering which server would be best to play on? Starting over completely, looking to try my hand at tanking and play the Paladin.

I was looking at Jenova as a server of choice, as it seems small and quiet and seems to have a good community from what I have read.

Anyone know how it is?

Yay, someone else considering Jenova!

We are an extremely friendly community, and have a lot to offer. there is very little hate from most activities (I personally have never seen someone shamed for early pulling a hunt), and everyone seems genuinely interested in helping you out!

If you are looking for a Free Company, I am part of the Moogle Mob, which is the 8th ranked FC in the server. We are always looking for new members of all skill levels, have experienced players on 24/7, and don't hesitate to help our newer players. I joined as a lowly level 5 chars, and they have helped me level myself all the way up, and helped considerably with getting geared and skilled.

Just a fair warning, though, if you have played on other servers, our economy will seem a bit more expensive. There isn't a lot of competition, so undercutting doesn't drive down prices very fast.

i've left jenova for cerberus bc i live in europe and had serious duty finder problems even as a tank (+100mins). but i would agree it has a great community. well..you'll find a soab on every server, but especially since you're planning on playing as tank, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the duty finder even on a smaller server like jenova.

Duty Finder is cross-server and will draw people from all worlds in your Data Center, so being on a smaller server shouldn't hurt your DF queue times. I believe Jenova is on the Aether Data Center, so would share the same player pool with Adamantoise, Balmung, Cactuar, Coeurl, Faerie, Gilgamesh, Goblin, Mateus, Midgardsormr, Sargatanas, Siren, and Zalera. At North American peak hours, the DF queue there isn't bad (though it might be during off-peak hours).

Note: next week the DF queue for DPS classes is likely to get worse than ever while lots of players try out the new Rogue/Ninja class/job that are being released. It should be a great time for leveling a tank, though.
