Administrator Access?

I found the issue. It was a combination of Steam and FFXIV. I detailed it in the OP.

It was sort of steam side.

The problem was I did not want it running as an administrator. Relatively, I completely ignored your half-assed attempt at "help." There is no reason why the game needs admin permissions at all in the first place, but apparently it needs them when patching. It was an issue that I have outlined in the OP, and was completely unrelated to permissions settings or anything silly FFXIV was doing.

Well.. if you still need to run it as Admin for updates, you may still get prompted for it periodically. If that still annoys you enough, you can opt to assign the permissions to the executable as outlined in that article. Not sure how that is a "half-assed attempt at help"... but to each his own if you don't want to accept a potential solution given to address issues put forth in your query.

Just a bit of friendly advice for future reference... you may want to tone things down a bit when asking for help on these forums. There is a report button that tends to get used aggressively at times... not everyone is as tolerant around here.
