Codex or Riot!

This is the biggest thing I have wanted since I started really getting into FFXIV: A Lore Codex.

Essentially, when players complete certain quests, reach certain areas, interact with certain NPCs, or encounter certain monsters, a Codex pops up in direct relation to the unlocked condition.

In essence, the Codex would contain the following categories:

Tutorial: (All of the tutorial articles would move from its own space into the Codex)
-Movement
-Combat
-Crafting
-Gathering
-Free Company
-Grand Company
-Housing
-PVP
-Etc

The Story Thus Far: (All of the story-based lore. History, current events, etc. as it affects the current events unfolding)
-The History of Eorzea (Pre-1.0 History)
-The Sixth Astral Era (1.X Storyline)
-The Seventh Umbral Era (2.0 Storyline)
-The Seventh Astral Era (2.1+ Storyline)
-The Dragonsong War (Ishgardian History and 3.0 Storyline)
-The Trials of the Zodiac Braves (Relic Weapon Questline)
-The Legend of the Soul Crystals (Class/Job Quests)
-The Legend of Hildebrand (Hildebrand Quests)

Places: (Story about specific areas and landmarks)
-Thanalan (Places in Thanalan)
-La Noscea (Places in La Noscea)
-The Black Shroud (Places in The Black Shroud)
-Coerthas (Places in Coerthas)
-Mor Dhona (Places in Mor Dhona)
-Elsewhere (Places inaccessible to players, at least by normal means.)
-Etc

People: (Stories about the people of Eorzea)
-The Scions of the Seventh Dawn (Members of the Scions)
-The Ascians (Members of the Ascians)
-Ul'dahn (Citizens of Ul'dah)
-Lominsan (Citizens of Limsa Lominsa)
-Gridanian (Citizens of Gridania)
-Ishgardian (Citizens of Ishgard)
-Garlean (Citizens of Garlemald)
-Doman (Citizens of Doma)
-Other Important Figures
-Etc

Bestiary: (Summaries of enemies challenged in Eorzea, with minor gameplay information like HP, Abilities, Dropped Items, and a brief segment of lore)
-Humankin (Enemies from one the Five Races)
-Beastkin (Mammalian enemies like squirrels or bears)
-Plantkin (Plantlike enemies like Ochus and Mandragora)
-Dragonkin (Dragonic enemies like Wyverns and Drakes)
-Earthkin (Stone enemies like Golems)
-Feykin (Spirit enemies like Elemental Sprites)
-Fellkin (Demon enemies like Succubi or Gargoyles)
-Legendary Beasts (Boss-Level enemies)
-Etc

Items: (Story behind various items found throughout Eorzea)
-Weapons
-Armor
-Potions
-Food
-Materials
-Etc

I really want to read all about Eorzea. Everything that we should know about as adventurers, we as players should have access to.

Active Help (aka Tutorials) would basically be moved into the Codex, as it historically has been. It's not a dealbreaker if they remain separate, mind. Just a style choice.

OP wants it in a "book form" though, with tabs.. all together on one screen. I know what he means, and this would be a nice add on. Make it happen Yoshi.

Considering the forum moderators usually delete threads labeled riot or with the table flip emote.

It's probably best to avoid it.



As for OPs request, historical 'tomes' they said they'd consider adding to the libra Eorzea app.

Have Felicia Day voice the Codex as Codex. That should help the confusion!

She can't do anything but a NA accent, it wouldn't fit in Eorzea.
