Multiple Characters and gathering?

I hate waiting to farm 1 star and 2 star nodes so i am wondering if i make an alt; can i use those 2 characters to mine the node twice?

Sure can. Really annoying investment though, you'll have to re-level the class, gear it back up (millions and millions of gil right here), and do the 50 item gathering process again (and more for your Supra if you go that route). With the current prices on gathering items it will take a long, long time to pay off that investment.

You can, mainly if you leave the second character at a specific node. Not much time if you plan to gather multiple things.

And it's not really that expensive. You can do some really cheap melds to meet the gathering requirements, and 1% HQ requirement.

Worst part is leveling a gathering class again. I've been considering doing it myself, but ugh. Leveling gathering...

It's not that bad, I just leveled up 2 mules partly for this purpose, 1 miner, 1 botanist. It took 4 weeks, I'd estimate 50 hours total each.

-To start it's a few hours to progress through Ifrit and join a GC. Daily turn ins and seals for ventures (the main reason for the mules)
-Every day, low level duty roulette (never unlock further dungeons, they take too long) and turn in of DoH GC items. approx 40 minutes
-Every 5 levels of DoW/DoM, unlock leve zone and do DoL leves, and next quest in class story line. approx 1-2 hours per week
-Send retainers on 18 hour ventures, keep them close to your DoL

Gear for them was fairly inexpensive, min melded to hit HQ on 2 stars doesn't require overmelds, or the 2.3 accessories. GP is over 550, so I can round up 25 darksteel/gold/crawler at a time.

My plan was more lazy than that. Make 7 more characters, log them in once and let them stack leve allowance. 10 Leve's = 5 levels, so once i reach 100 leve's i can power level each to 50 assuming i have them geared. I was planning on just being able to hit 1 star nodes for now and mining clusters, but in the future once supra prices drop. I would upgrade them to be able to hit 2 star nodes. How useful would it be to be able to hit a 2 star node 8 times per hours!

I just wanted to make sure, there is no DoM or DoW requirement to get level 50 DoL Primary right? Sadly, i would not be able to accumulate any significant amount of venture seals to send retainers out since i won't be doing beast tribe or crafting classes, so the gc seals i get from supply/provision would suck and be a waste of time.

There's no 50 requirement for DoW/DoM, but you won't be able to unlock the leves 20+ without one at that level.

You also can't start stocking leves until you unlock them by advancing to level 10 quests in the main scenario.

I'm assuming all these characters would be under one account? If so, that's some crazy ambition you have there. Logging on and off to different characters 7 times every hour. Gonna burn out quick (probably).

It's not too bad. I just wish I could load faster.

Nobody has mentioned yet, but you don't recover GP unless you are logged in to a character. Hitting a node with 8 characters would be pointless unless you were after soils/seeds, or were willing to spend about 90% of the time between nodes getting everyone GP.
