    Interesting Mob behavior.

I just noticed this on a jog in cassiopia caverns earlier today.

Slugs of all forms are "Non agressive" mobs but when you get near them they actually have "Hate" on you if you check them they will have glowing red hate on your character.

Obviously this is due to the behaviour slugs show of them using a that AOE attack if you linger around them for too long. I just thought it was a funny glitch where the system will show you have hate on a mob that doesn't actually engage you.

    Nope, it's a mob characteristic.

They tried to give mobs a bit of flavor, which is nice.

They also had spawn cycles based on day/night, maybe even the month but that has gone by the wayside from what I can tell for now.

I do hope that makes it in for the revamp of the world zones, but they have to make sure mob distribution is OK so the economy can function.

Finding the mobs and understanding their cycles was pretty fun for me as its a semi-sandbox characteristic.

Yeah, it's something they actually extended from XI -- The goldfish mobs as they're known were one of the few in XI that were "aggressive" to you but never attacked, so clearly they have hate on you; Same with the Lycopodiums (pink flower mandragoras) but all they did was follow you and if you did a certain quest they'll cast a type of regen on you.

In XIV some mobs like Drakes will literally 'warn' you if you're too close before striking and if you don't take said warning you'll be dead in a few seconds.

I enjoyed poking at many different mobs to find out there behavioural types. It's sad that Efts no longer have a "Warning" that they have sensed your presense they just agro now...

Honestly I wish nannygoats still followed you, instead of randomly roaming around all the time. Same with dodo's. I also wish there was interactions between mobs, ya know for that immersive effect. I remember everytime I made a trip to Cassiopiea in the early days of launch, somebody would always die in the caverns walking to the aetheryte. It made me giggle.

eh, the following stuff gets kinda extreme, especially with the SP limitations on mobs you accidentally aggro.

That's why you pay attention to what you are doing instead of zerging everything. And they are changing the SP on other mobs you are fighting as well. So, YES, I hope they do give them their /follow back

I don't think that I zerg everything, nor am I a bad player; but there are an excessive number of aldgoats in the game, and having them hump your character while obstructing the view gets to be tedious and old quickly. It really doesn't add to the immersion factor, especially if you're around livestock IRL - you want them to be nowhere near you.. trust me. I get a kick out of the ladybugs.

It's not like they are all over the place... I never had a problem watching what I did before 1.18. And frankly I think that with auto attack, people pay more attention to their surroundings.

Personally the /follow was one of the things that took me out of the game. I mean sure if they glanced over and got closer or something thats one thing.

but for them to stick behind me while I'm murdering a monster near them...well all I can say if I was a aldgoat/monkey I would be fleeing in terror.
