Personally, I don't think the game should be nosing its way into our personal lives and formally glorifying our real-world relationships. Besides, not everyone has a significant other who plays FFXIV, or if they do they may not be comfortable with this virtual "marriage" nonsense. This "eternal bond" ceremony is an arbitrary, inane ritual that has nothing to do with the game at all, and is better left out.

However, if it absolutely has to be put in the game for some reason, it would not be fair for it to come with practical benefits. Some of you are suggesting things like stat or xp boosts, inventory/spiritbond sharing, or free teleports. Heck, one guy actually suggested higher HP/MP/TP. Are you kidding!? How is this remotely fair? This all sounds incredibly selfish and entitled. You are basically trying to turn the game into "marry-to-win," punishing anyone who doesn't want to partake in your weird game marriage cult.

What's next, registering our real-world religion for a free tomestone allowance? Divulge our political leanings for a shot at an exclusive chocobo barding if we pick the right one? Hey, maybe we can skip the cash shop altogether by sending SE a statement of our annual income, and they will award our characters an equivalent amount of items and gil.
