DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ABUSE!!1!
Which in turn, we need a Police/DHS type of job thing lmao.
Then don't participate in it....Jesus Cripes.Personally, I don't think the game should be nosing its way into our personal lives and formally glorifying our real-world relationships. Besides, not everyone has a significant other who plays FFXIV, or if they do they may not be comfortable with this virtual "marriage" nonsense. This "eternal bond" ceremony is an arbitrary, inane ritual that has nothing to do with the game at all, and is better left out.
I'm not married or anything but I mean I have a best friend and I think it'll be fun and funny to marry him in game...because why not?
Just for fun...no one's really getting married....
It's fluff content which is suppose to be fun. The reason why it's called EB because every one had pee fits over it being named marriage.
Dunno don't care, just wanna see people be happy in a bond...thing lol.
Which brings up a question that I kinda hate to ask because I don't have a flame shield: Does this allow same sex...bond...thing? xD

And they could steal each other's items while doing so, and you can't do anything to prove it was stolen since you're sharing them. There's a reason why sharing accounts is against their rules, and (most likely) on every game.
slight difference between sharing an inventory space and sharing an account, though.
It'd be something interesting for SE to add, though, especially since it's exclusively between two people and any interpersonal issues are between the partners and no one else.
Having some aesthetic items associated with bonding is nowhere near the scale that a cash shop will reach. There's not going to be an entire array of mounts, minions, armor and weapons, etc., added regularly to the game, just for "eternally bonded" characters.
I won't. And realistically, I don't think it will be a big deal. It's arbitrary "meta game" fluff that doesn't suit FFXIV, but it's not going to end my world. My objection is mainly to the suggestions people are coming up with for significant competitive advantages: buffs to stats, HP, MP, TP, etc. I don't see this happening, but if it did it would be horribly unfair and pretty hard to ignore. I can hardly wait to see in Party Finder: "Turn 5 Coil of Bahamut, NO SINGLES."
When the idea of in-game marriage was first being tossed around, it was originally going to block same-sex unions. I don't have a direct quote, but I believe Yoshi-P's statement on it was something along the lines of: "At first, only characters of different genders will be allowed to marry. Same-sex marriage may be something we could look into later on, if there is enough player demand for it." Much later, they did announce that you'll be able to marry someone of the same gender.

Oh yeah, don't start putting buffs like that then.
But watch you have to PAY rl money to get EB though.
God damn...PLEEEEEASEE DON'T DO THIS SE.
They dunno how to make fluff content and I'm scared this will happen.
But I lost my hype or hopes long ago so...I'll try not to be surprised lol.
I would imagine that house ownership would got to the initial buy. and in the event that the house was bought when having a partner, the same would apply.
In my strange head cannon, the marriage mechanic could have been just a fun nod to the RP people on Balmung and Gilgamesh but eh... *shurgs*
I dont think SE will be implementing things like EXP, stat boosts, mp/tp/hp boosts or regens or anything else. The whole point of the thing is to have fun. I know I will be attending a crap load of In-Character marriages when the 2.4 expansion comes out in 5 days.
But if I had to suggest anything that wouldnt give married couples an advantage, I would say more hair styles, tattoos and so on? They wont give any players advantages and they would be merely for Aesthetic purposes. Yes, it would lock content away from unmarried couples but it wont give married couples a definitive or unfair advantage (and lets be honest, they wont be locked out from game breaking content or lore, unlike difficult COIL. Dx)

on a side note, me and my friend talked about it and it should only be with someone you trust. kinda like the real deal.
