    T7/8 question

Thanks for taking the time to read my question. My static has been together for about 4 weeks now, and we've progressed to T9 in that short time. However, their are times that we still struggle with 7-8. Our first 8 clear was last week, and we did down 7 on our first shot four weeks back, however since then its hit or miss. My teammates are starting to freak out over recent struggles, mainly last night....which I will take full blame for crap stacking. However, I want to see if this really is a big thing...or are we over reacting to some of the tougher content.

I don't think its really that big of a deal. You said you downed T8 for the first time last week, and T7 is...well...T7. There have been times where my raid group would spend 3+ hours on T7, then the next day go and 1-shot T8/9. So I would say don't get own about it.

Is your group controlling phase changes in T7? That fight punishes you badly for being too efficient if you don't strictly monitor DPS when nearing phase change thresholds.

You know, T7 isn't acutally a skill check, but a test to your groups ability to psychologically endure failures on already cleared turns aka 'How long does it take until someone gets into rage mode'

As others said, control the phases and do the transistions right. If they are good the kiter will have a smooth job, if they are bad the kiter will have a clusterf*** sort of time

My static has T6 and T7 down to a science and T8...well, we're still stuck on that but we know the whole fight. Someone usually just screws up on a mine and gets thrown into a tower and pushing it too soon. But anyways, despite knowing the fights and one-shotting them there is still MAJOR room for error. You hit any kind of lag, blighted gets you. If you don't control the way you get spit out you can land in a briar and die. In T7....well, it's T7, stoning people by accident (especially me, the poor kiter getting stoned q_q) can happen quite a bit. Not to mention Renaud maintenance and monitoring how much longer their petrified....

SCoB isn't like BCoB. First coil you learn and thus one shot forever. Second coil I think is meant to test you over and over again.

Our last T7 ever last night... most likely anyway.
What a fcking pain in the ass this turn is! Wiped 3 times last night, two of them were just derps granted but srsly when we did win it was close... we try holding back dps but you seem to get so far through the fight and all of a sudden you're in a postition where you have no voice/petrifaction and the giants are going to wake up... it was definitely easier at first, it feels harder as we've geared up >.< lol. The timing just seems all over the place. I for one hope they avoid stuff like this. I much prefer the other 3 turns. So yeah don't feel too bad, I think the struggle is real for most groups xD

T7 definitely requires more flexibility. Our group stops dps at about 63% until the voice/shriek combo goes out and again at around 37% for another voice/shriek combo. Even still, there are going to be nights where things just don't click for whatever reason and it all keeps going to shit. If that's happening, I think it's important to keep the mood light. Back when I was learning Titan Ex, we had a rule that the first person to die had to share an embarrassing story. It kept people laughing despite all the wipes and let us keep at it longer. You could also just back out of the instance and take a 5-10 minute break to unwind; pet your cat, hug your kids, go outside for a minute, whatever you need to clear your head.

Edit: And don't beat yourself up over little mistakes! We've all been there, but if you keep stacking blame on yourself, it'll just make it harder. And if someone in your static is giving you shit for messing up, then maybe rethink having them in it.

T7 is the worst turn in SCoB, my static can one-shot t6,8 and 9... but Turn 7 can be a pain sometimes, make sure to hold DPS for proper phase changes and don't worry if you wipe a couple of times there as it also happens to other groups.

If the giants are about to wake up, and you have a SMN, you can stall a wipe with a swiftcasted Tri-Disaster (what's this, a use for that awful spell?). Works on stacking or single renaud method, just make sure you tell your healers to GTFO from the renauds because otherwise your WHM is dead.

T7 is the turn most groups have an issue with when there on farm. Its long, there's lots of downtime if your DPS is good and really even a small mistake is game over. My group generally stops all non essential chat in that turn just to maintain focus.

Based on your T8 issues though you may want to look at your group. Its probably the most straightforward fight in SCOB. If your still wiping to silly things after a clear you may have an issue. Its tough to do but if you have a consistently inconsistent player you may need to consider a change.
