To defeat Odin! Tips for the EU players.

Hi all I'm off to the London Fanfest this weekend *yaaaay* I've already got my eye on that "I beat Odin T-Shirt" :3 I'm gona roll as PLD there and one thing I noticed is the silencing of skills. Any tips for me as a PLD or the fight in general please?

I was just about to look around and see if I could find a video of the fight tonight. I'll be rolling around as a bard so sounds like I might be important.

    How to beat Odin:

    See those telegraphs? Dodge them.
Einherjar needs to be silenced. The paladin alone can handle this, but bards should be ready.
Kill the first two sets of Gungnirs, but ignore the third if you get it. By that time he'll almost be to Zantetsuken.
    Casting Zantetsuken? BURN BURN BURN!

Not sure what mechanic does it, but there will be a dispellable bleed applied to some targets, clear it. When Gungnirs are up there will also be a non-dispellable bleed across the field. Also, make sure Cleric Stance is on your bars because you will need it for Zantetsuken phase.

The 2nd bleed is caused by einherjar if its silenced you dont need to dispel. Also dont lose hope when hes casting zantetsuken, even after the bar fills you have 1-3 seconds to finish him before the attack hits for 99999 damage. Also, yes ignore the 3rd set of adds.

The jobs were fixed btw so plan for that.
    2 tanks
    2 healer
    1 drg or smn
    1 mnk or smn
    1 brd or smn
    1 blm or smn
So you can run 4 smn or switch any # of the dd to smn if you like. There i100 some had relic 100 some had soldery 100 weapon.

15 min time limit starts when barrier drops.

Pld can solo tank, so Warrior can just go DPS mode. And yep, don't panic near the end. pop LB3 when Odin starts preping zantetsuken and burn till you win. Don't give up.

Have your ranged be loosely spread out for AoEs. Many groups prefer to 'stack up' (similar to Titan plumes), but I don't think this is good because you really can't trust the server latency. I've witnessed several people 90k (lol). On one of our attempts, our WHM black-screened. If you are spread out enough, you'll never risk hitting each other with AoEs.

When the nails come down, don't forget that a bleed effect is on the ground. So, the sooner you kill the nails, the sooner you stop taking pulsing AoE damage. If your healers don't understand this mechanic, they might not realize until someone dies.

You can silence Einherjar (as others have said). I didn't know this when I won, but apparently you can stun Hall of Stone (I believe).

When the huge red circle AoEs come out, make sure you DON'T hit people with them. This is important. There's some mechanic where if someone gets too many stacks of this, it's an instakill. I don't really know the details -- all I know is you need to avoid it.

Burn as soon as he runs to the middle to cast Zantetsuken.

It's really a very simple fight if you don't MPK each other, DC, encounter a blackscreen or have your hardware flip out.

Huh, I thought he was just immune to stuns. Either way, Halls of Stone is easy to dodge, and you're probably better off having melee DPS throwing out their stuns as part of normal rotation for the extra damage.
