    PayPal Payment Option Please!

    I have a couple of Dutch FC friends who have been unable to play the game thanks to the removal of Ultimate Pay.

    The only other payment options left open to them are credit cards - something that is a difficult process to obtain in their country, but also something that some people aren't able to get, say, if they have bad credit...

    Regardless of reasons, they are holding out for a PayPal payment option, but I was wondering:

    1. Do we even have confirmation this is coming at all?
    2. When?

    PayPal would be nice, sure.

    But as an alternative, just buy Game Time Cards on Ebay or Amazon. Problem Solved.

    Because chargebacks. Paypal almost always side with the customer. See ArksCash and PSO2 for a similar problem with a similar payment option.

    This is sadly true for the purchase of physical goods and non-subscription based transactions using a normal PP goods/services payment. For sub based transactions I have no clue as I've never been on the seller side of it.

    I get around the customer one-sided chargebacks with an invoiced agreement prior to sale with conditions. Especially since my side work is the repair of older electronics (arcade and pinball). However, I also warranty my work, which is also in the conditions.

    Originally it was a pain, but after the initial start it has protected me very well with fraudulent claims. Especially International customers, as I force them to use EMS shipping with the correct insurance coverage to protect me from even more false claims and overall loss. Shipping to EU and even JP isn't cheap.

    That's what NCSoft were doing when they ran the European Aion servers. They dropped it after, though, so it's difficult to tell how well it worked for them. Obviously, NCSoft then also ditched Aion in Europe altogether, so that may have been the deciding factor for pulling the plug.

    Such a stupid company, Paypal. Did you ever see this? Paypal dispute ends in destruction of violin.

    Yeah, I read that article, pretty sad and not the first time hearing PP do this. PP can be hard to work with just on a small seller lvl. I can only imagine what SE's legal team has to do to cover themselves.

    Because people are sh*t and do stuff like this all the time. More often than not, it's a parent realising their kid has run up funds because they're lax with their passwords, and then refuses to pay for the stuff they've bought.

    And we have a cash shop coming soon, too. Lots of pretty vanity items for those little darlings to blow mummy and daddy's money on.

    Pretty sure you're talking 100% with your emotions rather than logic atm.

    Payplan is no longer available simply because that website was shut down, which is not SE's fault at all. So now SE is trying to make Paypal an option again, which you refuse to believe through your own stubbornness. You sure do love to mindlessly hate because you're mad, rather than look at things at an actually logical standpoint.

    Also, your last sentence really proves my first sentence right. Wow.

    Think what you wish. I'll happily put money on Square pulling Paypal after a couple of months. Payplan had very different custom usage policies. Paypal essentially can't be bothered with proper investigation and negotiation, and will happily just side with the customer, to make their jobs easier. Their complaints procedure locks the seller into a one month waiting queue, too, with the only option being to refund without question, to abort the queue time. Meanwhile, Square won't be able to legally terminate access, because the payment has already been made.

    "My son used my account without my consent."
    "My computer was hijacked."
    "Your site is too confusing to use, I didn't mean to resubscribe."

    This is exactly why people like Sony only accept it in certain regions, where custom service laws weigh in their favour.
