    MNK T8's dpsing

Hi everyone. I'm a MNK since i came Eorzea from first time and yesterday i've suffered the ultimate disappointment: I knew the T8 mechanisms but my damage was too lame in comparison to a ilv95 dragoon and i am ilv 108 MNK (Soldiery gear, gloves from Syrcus for ACC and Novus) and yes i was doing my rotation at flank and back never letting any of my buffs and debuffs running out.
Anyone know what i do to fix this damage issue? A bard at party using damage calculator said i was doing 360 and i was suposed to do 400. Is it because Blood for blood? Because i dont have it? I was using Ap omellete for food. Any sugestion will be very appreciated.

    Lemme bas-....errr...advice u :

    1. U really need to level LNC for B4B l@ vl 34 and Invi @ lvl 22
    2. Ur a bit below acc cap 475 for t8 and expect 1-3 missed hits
    3. Unoptimal nexus
    4. Wrong food, better use black truffle risotto HQ, DET > CRIT esp for MNK
    5. Pretty sure u didn't use X pot of STR HQ twice and potent poisoning pot
    6. Based on no 1234, i would say ur rotation would be unoptimal too, better check the monk temple thread
    7. Get another MNK to DK and BRD to tp song when 2nd DN tower popped
    8. Do LB3
    9. ????
    10. 500 DPS +++ profit

I'm pretty sure 99.9% of all monks are way below 500 dps

even ~450 should be a solid number and way above average

My MNK is i104, and I definitely screw up once in a while on my rot (letting ToD expire for a few seconds, refreshing TwSn too quickly, etc) and I do something like 400 dps with Glazenfaust. I am the raid leader so that distracts me a bit, and I am responsible for 1 tower and ballistic management.

I think the highest I've done is 425, I would imagine I could get to 460 or so with i110, I'm also carrying way too much skill speed and accuracy atm. Your skill speed is high, det is low, and accur is low. I would imagine you are clipping too soon on dots and buffs/debuffs, though. Try to make sure you don't refresh DK or Demo unless they are under 6 seconds remaining.

DEFINITELY get BFB and you NEED (I can't emphasize this enough) Invigorate. You MUST have that TP boost and manage it correctly to allow you to not be limited by your TP in this long fight.

Finally, 360 isn't encounter-failing. We do T8 with 4 dps and I am the only one who ever breaks 360 when I am on my MNK or we have a guest MNK. Also, if you are on PS4 or you aren't strafing on your PC, make sure you use lock-on target, if you are running to the flank and rear while not strafing or being locked on you are missing auto attacks which is a huge huge huge part of your dps.

Good luck! The best advice I can give is to get LNC to 34 and to make sure you aren't clipping your rot in a way that is costing you dps.

Thank u guys for the tips. Based on everything u said i think my problem is renewing DK too much, not having Blood for blood and revigorate. I lose a lot dps when my TP run out at 60% Avatar's HP. My ACC is 493 and Novus det +26, crit +19, SkS +18, ACC +12.
One last thing to know, if i'm playing on PS3 the number of hits per min is lower than PS4 and PC systems?

More properly it's if you're using a controller and not locking on while moving between flank and rear, then you are missing auto attacks (as in not doing them because you're looking away, not missing due to accuracy). Keyboard and mouse players strafe, and you strafe while locked on, but ordinarily with a controller you look away.

I'd recommend trying to get into the habit of locking on while moving between positions and then turning it off when you don't need it, since lock on greatly limits your ability to see the entire battlefield and makes you move much slower (unless moving toward your target).

Not having Invigorate is definately the biggest issue unless your bard is doing Army's Paeon from start to finish. While (I'll probably make someone angry by saying this) Blood for Blood is not MANDATORY,
Invigorate is. While B4b does give you more oomph as long as it's active, you are straight up unable to DPS while out of TP.
Still get Blood for blood though.

-For skills : BfB and Invigorate are the musts.
-For gears: Focus on getting your acc to 505 as a safety measure for 0% chance miss when hit rear/flank. Then Det and Crit. Skill speed, take it as granted, never focus on it specificly.
-For foods and potions: Use Button in the Blanket when you have enough acc or Lava toad eggs if you need acc. Use X-potion of strength when possible. All are in HQ.
-For strat : If you have another melee like a Dragoon, ask him to do LB 3 instead of you and ask for TP song when your TP get as low as 500 (when Invigorate is down). Keep Twinsnake buff and Dots on Avatar 100% up time even when DPS Dread. Refresh if need to.
-For skill rotation: Quickly get to 3 stacks of Lgrease as soon as possible via Perfect Balance (pop CD and pots in between). Then proceed with normal rotation. You should be able to use on normal rotation ( ones with no Dots at all) before the need to refresh the Dots and Twinsnake buff. That would increase your DPS.

After all this and you don't have to do any tower, mines or tether and your DPS is not able to reach 400 at the very least with your gears, my advise is to re-access yourself

My DPS is 450 with no food and pots with HA claws, ilv 110,all BiS but Choker and Bracelet ( they are hiding so well ), acc is 506.

Ty very much, that was the issue. Playing with controler i'm losing a lot Auto attacks. I'm training fighting with lock on and standard controller mode. My damage output got up to 425.
Now i'm working to lv up my lancer to get at least invigorate.

You NEED B4B too, dont like some of the post convince you its a meh thing. Its a massive damage boost and totally required to be a good MNK/DRG/BRD.

Other then that everything has been covered. Try and practice refreshing DoTs JUST before they go out, not any sooner then you need to.

Also you can cross-class fracture, but its very meh. Almost not worth using.
