They were scanning the code on the badges so this would have not been possible to do. non-VIPs got their autographs from catching the dev team on the floor (I know I caught Koji Fox, Foxclon and Yoshida a few times)
Meow
I know that, I had mine done on friday. But I heard Saturday night from some of the other VIPs that they were bumped out by some non-VIPs that snuck in somehow, hence why they had another signing on Sunday that wasn't originally scheduled.
I'd love to see the raffle at the end go a little faster, it was literally an hour of waiting for people to walk up on stage. There were so many items that were duplicates. You could have drawn all 4 people and let them all walk up on stage at once.
I would have also liked to have seen some PS4 stuff raffled off too. Some gaming headphones. An extra controller, maybe even a console.
Or even add some autographed stuff. Some of the even posters signed by the dev team. A few 60 day game cards. A FFXIV themed custom poker chip. A free subscription to the twitch stream for the London or Tokyo Fan Festival. A voucher for one of those cash shop minions / mounts. There is so much more, and even with a bunch more stuff, they could have made it go so much faster.
I also think that would be good. I thought that was how it was going to be in the first place. I know when I got there and there were not levels I was like "crap, how can I compete with someone who has been doing this for years and it's my first time?" I think having tiers would really encourage new people to try and allow experienced ones a challenge.
My husband and I also felt this way. Yes, obviously being there is different than just watching, but for the price of going it really felt like we should have gotten in-game items unique to attendees and, frankly, better swag.It felt like for the price we paid it was a bit much to just stand around waiting......I was REALLY miffed learning that people could buy the stream and get the moogle attire. I was kinda sitting there thinking that it would be exclusive for us that spent the time and money to go to Fan Fest.
Not sure if it has been mentioned but there shoud be some better way to find a group to do the Primal Challenges, Odin and Speed Runs. I think trying to find members held up the lines. Just like the duty finder, always a lack of tanks and healers (Mostly healers) for those 8 person battles. I really enjoyed the archery. A shame the Line of Doom was strong with that event, so I agree of maybe making that one bigger for the next FanFests. Live Quest was ok... But I think it was more tedious then it needed to be, much like that homework you forgot to do the day of class.
A lot of critique has already been said so I won't repeat it. But the one major glaring flaw of the whole fanfest: no arcanist patch!
Other than that, I had a lot of fun. Lines weren't bad at all if you had friends to talk to. It also helps when you don't need to wait in the line multiple times because you cleared it first try. Other minor quibbles are just growing pains, this first fest establishing standard operating procedure for the future.
Let Camate walk around.
Clutch did an amazing job btw.
A couple of things come to mind for improving the next fan fest.
A larger venue, the room was nice but the lines really made it feel cramped when everyone was trying to access the activities/merch booth.
Rather than having large central locations for the activities and merch booth(like odin, or the speed runs), perhaps distribute them around into smaller clusters in opposite areas of the room, so you don't get these mega lines forming half way across the room.
Some kind of failsafe system for the Merch booth registers, a register failing shouldn't have happened.
Speaking of Merch, they really need to offer items with the nation-states emblem on them. It could be patches, hats, shirts, mugs, drinkware etc. Let people show their Gridania/Ul'dah/Limsa Lominsa pride!
It would be neat to have some kind of FFXIV themed concession area, serving beverages and snacks named after in-game food items.
I'd love to see those professional video feeds of the panels, cosplay contest and opening/closing ceremonies compiled and presented (uncut as much as possible) into a DVD boxed set, covering all three of the Fan Fest locations for that year, subtitled for the major languages the game supports. So everyone can enjoy some of the great memories of the interaction of the dev team and fans. Also it would be neat to have a super credits list like FFXIV:ARR had, with all ticket attendees in-game names and server added to the credits for the fan fest location they attended.
