The glamour system has already placed immersion pretty firmly into the toilet, with Paladins tanking in a bikini and snowman head while spanking the mob with a wooden paddle (ok, Macuahuitl, a legitimate weapon, but still...). I don't think that being able to dress up like Cloud will do a lot to change that and, to be honest, while you'd see a lot of Clouds running around at first, the novelty would die off pretty quick and they'd fall to more reasonable levels.

And, to be perfectly fair, nothing Cloud wears is all that far removed from stuff we see folks in-game wearing, so the loss of immersion is purely because you recognize him as a character from another game. Not that that isn't a legitimate reason to feel a loss of immersion, but lore-wise it amounts to little more than finding a creative tailor.
