Keep past content out of Cash Shop

I have no problem with them being in the cash shop year-round, I would like to see them available in game during the specific holiday seasons though as well, I do believe that's a very fair trade off

I agree. This method would be win win for both sides. There will always be those people who don't care about the $$$ they spend and will happily drop cash on these items throughout the year. However, this would also be a wonderful way to extend a hand to those unhappy and extremely disappointed players.

I'd also like to know how my Petition label was taken off my thread. I see other threads with petition on them, so is this SE's attempt at censoring this? Is taking money out of loyal fans' pocket in such a manner truly that important? Was it messing with the forums, and if so, couldn't the have taken the brackets down only? Very unfair imo, since they're always saying our opinion matters, and we have supported this game when no one would.

Each of these threads have petition in the title. They may have slipped under the radar or something a little more targeted might be going on. If it is the latter, then that truly saddens me. I played this game throughout 1.xx (I stopped playing around Garuda's implementation; however kept paying to support development) and supported this game when everyone I knew completely turned their backs to it. I've been a loyal FFXIV fan since the beginning. I understand these moderators have jobs to do, but this thread is in hopes of improving the game and preventing those old habits from 1.xx from slipping back in. At the end of the day, isn't it those who truly love something are the ones who speak out the loudest? I don't know, I would hope they could recognize that, because no matter how upset I may feel, I still log in and play this game b/c I love it. It may not be unconditional love, but it's love no less.

Agree, old seasonal event items should be purchasable with in game gil like they had been so far until this latest event, or even better be able to be earned by having a chance to do the past quests from previous years. If they still wanted to make money though, because you know "they're a business" which they are, they could offer those event items on the cash shop the day after the event ends for a limited time like about a month or so, make it an out of season sale or whatever.

Heya Felis, thanks for the response!

I'm one of those players who's pretty crazy over costumes, pets, and what not. Events are one of my favorite features of MMO's. It saves money on all of those out door decorations and time! I remember when, for whatever reason (didn't have the money, totally spazed and forgot, missed calculated the days an event was supposed to be up) I would miss events in other MMO's. It caused so much anxiety and regret in me. So for players like me, I feel like this option in game was amazing. It was one of the arguing points I made to many o' other MMO player as to why this MMO was so superior. Here's a company that cares about their players in such a generous fashion. Obviously, when they took this feature out to be charged for RL money, you can see why I'm so disappointed lol.

Is it really so wrong that old vanity item can be obtained by real money? Newer players are paying their dues literally to get that old stuff and buying into the game to get that. It seems that is more than fair. The older players that have been around got the reward for no extra charge simply by being there that time and participating. So should newer players be excluded forever with no means of getting at any of it? Just what exactly do the player that have been playing longer expect to be their own entirely and forever? Perhaps the expectation is unreasonable and unrealistic?

I'm pretty sure the expectation was that these items would be available from a vendor for minimal Gil regardless if you are a new or old player.

Just had a thought. Did ffxi have a cash shop for past event items? I don't remember it ever having one but who knows maybe ffxiv will set a trend and they might get one too.
