The same could be said of hard games, which is why there are no mainstream hard MMOs anymore.
I think this game does a good job of splitting the difference by having hard content and then making it easier over time as new hard content is added.
And yet no one here is asking to make it harder. Your point falls flat since plenty of people the difficulty as is and the way they slowly nerf old content. People wanting it easier aren't the only ones playing this game and it's a very small minority from my experiences. The biggest company I hear is the coil lock out. Not the difficulty.

I think Yoshi-P added a salvage coil to see if the hardcore players would bite, but since it didn't offer gear and the lockout was in place many didn't take the hook.
It was never intended for everyone and they knew itwouldn't heavily adopted. So I'm not sure what your point is. I know a bunch of people balmung challenging them because was fun. However that doesn't have anything to do with nerfing old content.
They do this already via minor tweaks (ads paralyze), echo, and much stronger gear. So I guess you just ignore all of that.I'll say this a third time... One thing is true: If you don't ease up old content, you discourage new people from ever buying the game because it'll be that much harder to catch up. If you wall off current players and leave them stuck 20 item levels behind everyone else, it can be heavily discouraging.
No it won't be obsolete in a week. Many players who never tackled it can do it with their friends, people can gear their side classes, and until at least a month passes people still will have very little of the new gear. Obsolete is the first coil the months ago. This is still quite relevant for many people. Think outside of your box.SCoB will be obsolete in a week. It already isn't a challenge for anyone who has it on farm (and a lot of those people only log on one day a week to coil anyway). Those players will be busy tackling FCoB and getting way better gear anyway. This is just how theme park games work.

It acknowledge by the developers that their somewhat was indeed a demand that you claim there wasn't a demand asking for harder content then what is previously in current game and they wanted to test the water so to speak. Also their is more than just one server besides balmung btw fyi, hence why they add salvage to test that water though they could put gear in their also for more incentive but we really haven't heard much about since but time will tell all.
That's all true but it's still a distraction for the topic and hand. SE isn't making it easier because people asked them to. It's something they planned to do with content since before ARR launched. Any time they talk about making coil easier they don't say "Lots of people asked us to do this", they say "The clear rates are unsatisfactory so we're going to add echo and make changes until the clear rates are where we'd like them to be".And yet no one here is asking to make it harder. Keep ignoring all the stuff they do too make it easier like echo, new gear, and minor mechanics tweaks. I'm sure that will continue make you're point stronger.SE isn't making it easier because people asked them to. It's something they planned to do with content since before ARR launched. Yes I agree that was their plan and as is fine. My problem is with people who seem to want degraded immediately to the lowest common denominator instantly. foolish and shortsighted.SE isn't making it easier because people asked them to. I'll put it this way. Square knows how many subs they have. We don't. Square knows how many concurrent users they have. We don't. Square knows how many attempts on coil are made each week and how many are successful. We don't. Square knows how many subs they are loosing. We don't.
I think they know more about what they are doing than most of the people here.

And that is correct, this is something I imagine you already know Tiggy, but player feedback isn't regarded as high as metrics for them, not to mention our feedback is filtered a lot by what the community reps decide to gather and how they decide to word it.SE isn't making it easier because people asked them to. I've always assumed they had a plan to ease up on old raids as the average ilvl increased, specially since raids that were originally meant to be cleared by a really small percent of the community within their appropriate time, this is reinforced by the fact that they are adamant to let people help others who may not clear the raid by themselves otherwise while the raid is still relevant, but once the raid is replaced they no longer want to keep a choke hold and they want it to be more and more accessible, so more people can reach the new choke hold, the new raid.
The nerf to first and second coil didn't happen due to people crying, they happened due to metrics, just like the nerf to Pharos Sirius and AK.
EDIT
I do agree with you here, nerf should happen slowly, checking the metrics to see how people are doing after any modification is made, just so they don't end up over-nerfing it.
