That's not necessarily true at all. Lots of hardcore players subscribe to MMOs for shorter periods of time because they are quick to jump to the next progression hype game. Just the same, lots of casual players stick around for years and never do anything more difficult than your average dungeon farm. Hardcore vs. Casual likely has very little to do with the type of people who attended. Casual players can be loyal too.

That being said, it still doesn't change the fact that a small number of people at a fan festival is not accurate representation of the entire player base. You can't even know how many people were booing in the first place. Japanese or European player opinions could be quite a bit different too.
