How many casuals would spend several hundred dollars to go to a convention in LAS VEGAS (very expensive area)? Not many. Hardcore players would without a doubt. Would you go to a comic book convention if you didn't care that much for what went on there?

Guess what, they are LOYAL fans who want to subscribe on a LONG-TERM basis. Casuals want to play for a bit and cancel their Sub some months and come back "here and there" to play every so often. Loyal Fans want to play for a long time, they want content that takes a long time to clear because its FUN and CHALLENGING. IMO Their money counts more than anyone else.

If you really want to start that argument about who spends more money and economic game health, then we can go that way, on those kind of terms.

A portion of a group of players willing and able to shell out $120 for tickets(at an extremely high scarcity rate), take a week long vacation, and fund travel and hotel to one of the most expensive tourist trap cities in the USA solely to devour information about a single topic represents the majority of the game's population.

It's not like that naturally sways physical attendance at Fanfest to what is both statistically a minority of players, and characteristically the most likely to be in the category of 'hardcore-level player' to begin with...

A spattering of boos at a limited access event inside of a limited access event. That's the very definition of a vocal minority. Not, as many on the internet believe, "people whose opinions differ from mine."

Actually people who attend the fanfest are the most dedicated players (willing to pay the amount of money + the trip + the hotel). Therefore the vocal minority were in fact the people who booed the nerf announcement.

Nerfing the previous content is a necessity in a game with a vertical progression : if you don't do it it makes life a lot harder for people who raid at top level (because it is harder to recruit new players, see how wildstar fared with the attunements). Therefore it is this solution or you remove the need to complete T5/T9 to enter bcoil 2 and 3.

I wonder how many percent of people can pass coil easily who are the vocal minority...

The hardest part about coil is finding a group to run it with regularly. Coil itself is a total joke. Savage is more like the true glimpse of what a challenging raid would be.

Guess you didn't try at begining, with 90 ilvl, just the minimal to do it.
Now you, we overgear it, we can play like, do an average DPS, it's ok, miss a heal, it's still ok (before miss the timing of one heal could be a death of the tank), tank forget to put a CD, or take the adds, still ok.
Also, more DPS = switch phases faster, and mkae the fight easier, I remind when we where doing T9 P3, and we had one more tower, also 5, and sometime even 6 rocks en P1 (6 if 1 dead).

Now on phase1, we have 4 rocks, we skip at least 1 or 2 beak, I remind also, there was a blight, we had to use allowed ground, before the boss was doing blight + jump (the jump back after a fly) on the tank.
And also one more Lunar Dynamo.

For P2 also, there was difference, even if it was less, like the golems killed faster : easier to heal the tank that have the green, and when switch, if green on DPS, he need to die fast before he kill a DPS, it was more close on DPS there, now it's just simple, even if someone die there is still enough DPS.

Abd of COURSE T1-9 is easy for YOU if you have Nexus/High allagan weapon and maximum current available iLvL thanks to soldery and high allagan. There still are people, who would have thought, that are not overgeared for every thing in the game.

Most mechanics are very very simple if you are paying attention. the punishment is suitable in my opinion if you fail to react.
