Booing when Coil2 Nerf was announced

There is one thing I don't understand though...why is it just instantly 30%? Why doesn't it work like trials, where you start with nothing and it gradually raises in increments if you die to a boss (and only a boss) if you last three minutes? As soon as the boss goes down in multi-boss dungeons, remove that buff.

Would that do anything to quell the issue people have?

Am I one of the only people that DON'T want a nerf , not for the reasons listed, but for this:

I enjoy second coil. It is still a challenge to me. And although I will look forward to Final Coil, I am sad about the fact that Second Coil is going to be nerfed to a point of no more challenge, and I won't have time to beat it while it's still a challenge to me. *See no static/fc comments*

I imagine they'll nerf coil 2 slowly and in increments, just like they did coil 1. So you'll probably have at least a few weeks after the patch to get your "legit" clear in before it gets nerfed. And even after that, it will still probably be "mostly legit" for at least the first month or so.

And if you *really* want a challenge, there's always Savage Coil.

Why do you want to nerf literally the ONLY DAMN content that is directed toward endgame players that is fun/challenging for us? There are so many other fights and things in this game perfectly accessible to casual people. (IE like...everything in the game besides 2nd/savage coil)

Great...you guys will have the whole game and we'll have...4 boss fights. To people like me, I remember loving the original coil because it was fun and challenging, but now that it's be nerfed to high heaven it's not content I enjoy anymore because it's been made so trivial with echo and nerfs to mechanics. It didn't need a nerf, because gear progression alone would have made it trivial enough without the 30% echo buff and eased mechanics. I don't want to see 2nd coil go the same way and once again be left signing on a couple times a week for the only raid we end game players have, while wishing there were other content in the game that were still fun and challenging.

I'm sorry but if you can't even clear T5 with echo and i100 - 110 gear then you definitely don't need the drops from 2nd coil for any purpose other than to wear it as a trophy. This was why I liked the idea of adding "storymode" versions of all the coil fights that allows everyone to witness the story aspect of it while also not having to hit content with a nerf bat.

You act as though you'd consistently go back to that old content. I call BS on that. Sure, I can definitely see folks going back to it once or twice. Maybe even several times... a year. Versus the numerous others who would much more frequently participate in it because of the fact its been nerfed. You will not give a damn, one way or another, about it being nerfed, because you only view it for nostalgic reasons. First off, even if they didn't nerf it, why would you think you'll have the same experience once you're geared from 3rd coil? I bet a response would be that you could still experience that difficulty by wearing lower ilvl gear. To that, I say true... you could... but you won't. Or rather, not enough people would do it to actually make the overall enjoyment factor for the player base worth it to keep unnerfed as time goes on. Especially while it is a little relevant to the less progressed players.

I have little desire to ever do Coil (nerfed or not). Not because I wouldn't be able to, but because endgame raiding is the same old same old. I've been playing MMORPGs since 2003, of which most of it did involve dedicated endgame raiding, and nothing has ever changed about the perspective and philosophy between developers and the player base when it comes to a successful game. Sure, things are easier to do now compared to 10 years ago, but it's the same result through and through. Likewise, these complaints about content being nerfed is nothing new. Every single game has it happen, and every single response is nearly a cut and paste between the players. I'm not holding my breath that the FFXIV community is different on this historically evident matter.

Also, I'd like to point out that FFXIV is not a hardcore raiding game. It's a jack of all trades, master of none. This has been stated, implied, etc over and over by Yoshi-P.

That is a such a distortion of the facts. People clearing T9 now have the whole game already and is taking that fact for granted. The people without statics can't even realistically attempt T6 more than once or twice at best. So Who is being excluded?

With final coil you are getting 4 more, and the rest of the players base will always be 4 short in comparison which is to say thet DO NOT have the whole game, it is just that they will not be excluded forever. 6 months after SCOB, they can finally get a reasonable shot at it, just like T5 is now.

Your subscription gives you the same ability to access that content as everyone else. Do you complain to game companies that you couldn't see the end of a single player video game because it was too hard?

Actually people do complain about the single player games, and they do get things like trainers and hacks/mods etc. applied to get to said content. But we are not talking about single player games. And yes everyone subscription gets everyone the same ability to access, and that ability requires you to recruit anad form statics and practice etc. Obviously that access level is not what SE wants its player base to be stuck on, they want to make that more accessible and improve access. What is so wrong with that? SE is making a smart business decision to do so, and being inclusive of newer players and newbies is a good thing for the game.

Two versions of old coil... Legacy and Echoed. That would be nice. I'd love to see Legacy Amdapor Keep back.
