Hi ! new player to FF XIV. Looking for some info...

    Hello,

Im the new player to FFXIV and FF series to however I`ve got average 14yrs experience with MMO games.
I have just started my trial day ago and I`m considering to upgrade the game. Probably I will play on EU servers as currently I live in the UK.
I have to admit that the game feel nice at the start but before I will run deep in to it I would like
to ask yo guys to help me with some questions:

    1. aesthetics are part of the game for me to: are there any different end-game armor sets to AF in this game or at the
end all classes will look the same? Kinda weird.

    2. NPC dialogues have no actor voice - is this normal? or my settings are wrong?

    3. Healer/Tank: is this game have same common issue with these 2 classes to be always most wanted? and again long
time queues to find the complete party.

    4. BRD class: according to http://xivsoul.com/ is very popular if not over-populated. Is it worth to still play this class?
or better go with any other DD.

    5. Multiclass system: I`ve researched and I undesrstand main cross-class system but:
    - can I have all/any class on one character or only these corresponding to recommended cross-class build.
    - race stats: are these stay the same regardless? or race stats can be modified according to class?
otherwise I don't understand how I can play Mage class on character built first for Melee with max STR.
How exactly stat system works with multi-classes? Are basic race stats that really important in the game?
Example: If I will start the game with Monk/Highlander STR23 how this will work when I swap to BLM/Highlander INT 18?

    Thank you vm in advance,

    Gl & HF

    1) Every class will look different. theres also a glamour system so you can actually choose how you want your gear to look like.

    2) normal, theres only voice acting in certain cutscene

    3) Healers and tanks have easier queue when finding party, so i'd recommend them if you're trying to level ur 1st character

    4) If you're going DPS, just choose whichever DPS u want to play.

    5) you can get to level all different jobs in 1 single character and stats added are unique to the class itself. So what you added to your stat while levelling your healer would not affect the other classes you play. Also, racial stat difference is too little to affect much, so just choose whichever race appeals the most to you

Welcome to FFXIV! Glad to have you.

    For answers to your questions:

    1. there are different end game armor sets to a point, but they are mostly one set per item level. However, at max level you have access to the Glamour system, which essentially means you can change your armor to look like any other armor you have in the game, a lot like the Transmog system from WoW if you played that in the past. It means that while people may have the same armor, each person can look quite different, using their favorite gear set.

    2. Npc Dialogues generally do not have voiceover, except for select main story quests. Your settings aren't wrong, just not all of them have it. It is a lot like Rumble effects on controllers, only in certain places such as cutscenes.

    3. Healer and Tank queues are much shorter, and there is a common theme in this most of the way while leveling, but they seem to balance themselves out during the endgame. That said, part of the benefit to playing as a tank or healer class (and not getting the "I'm killing stuff" high) is having a much shorter queue.

    4. as of current surveys, there is a lot more balance than there used to be with job disposition. Also, since it is possible to have multiple of the same dps job in a party (or any job really) you can play whichever class you feel most comfortable with, and there will be opportunities for you.

    5. You can have all of your classes on a single character. essentially, when you change class, your stats reset to be class specific. so if you equip a GLA weapon, your stats reflect a high str and vit build, and then if you change to a CNJ, your stats will change to be more ming and piety based. Basic race stats mean almost nothing in end game. You can be whichever race you want in any class you want, unless you are a super min/ max person, but they mean less than a 1% difference at endgame.

    Hope this helps!

Well, Kira and Tocsin covered most of what I would have said, but I can offer a couple additional thoughts.

    3) Tanks usually get nearly instant Queue times and Healers not much longer. DPS is the longest, but rarely by enough to cause real problems. During peak hours, DPS will typically get in in about 15 to 20 minutes (and there's usually plenty of other things to fill that time with). If you play off-peak hours, though, it may be longer.

If you plan on playing multiple classes anyway, one thing you might consider is using dungeons to level your tank and healer classes while saving quests for your DPS classes. This would include using a DPS class to run though the majority of the main scenario, making it your first "main" class (though you'd want to keep a tank and/or healer near the same level and it may take over as "main" at endgame, depending on to what extent you choose to treat one job as your main one).

    4) Go with whichever you enjoy. Personally, I like Bard because while it's primarily DPS, it also includes a bit of support as well, watching your healer's mana levels and singing a song to increase MP regen when needed (or other songs to increase TP regen or casters' magic damage). That and the fact that we can move while attacking make it a fun job to play. Its only downside is that it lacks a good Limit Break.

about the queues are mentioned above, nicely in details so I want to say just a couple of things about the main class

    4. BRD class - I'd suggest you to play the class you prefer, but you should try many class as you can since learning to play the others' role make you do the job better, in my case, healer who know how to control mobs aggro make tank's job easier. speaking of maining BRD, BRD is capable of keeping stable damage (since BRD can keep attacking while running and the range is insane), due to this advantages. BRDs are often put to deal with boss mechanics. To put it simple, if you're good with multi-tasking stuffs, people will be chasing after you.

    5. Race : not really effect the end-game content, if people can do their job properly, that 1% difference doesn't matter at all so don't worry
Multi class : stats in this game depends on gears with 30 bonus stat, that 30 bonus point is seperated by class.

    hope this help!
    have fun playing FFXIV
